Movie that has familiar scenes to Mad Max 2
Hi all,
I havn't been on this board for so long!
What has brought me back was after watching a movie called: "Race with the devil". It is a B grade 70's horror/action (well kinda horror) movie.
Anyway the story goes that 2 couples take a vacation with a hugeass caravan and go out in the sticks. They end up somewhere for the night where they rest. While there they discover these people peforming witchcraft in the distance out in the forest where they witness a killing of a girl. Anyway blah blah they get chased by these satanistic witchcraft people while they try to get away in their huge campervan. Near the final scenes there are scenes reminisant of mad max 2 when the mechanic is on truck. And when the other 2 are on the back of truck throwing fire bombs. Well anyway i noticed some similarities to MM2 as instead of it being the truck it is the campervan thats used.
Is it possible George Miller got some of those ideas from this poxy movie i saw?

I've seen this movie too, many years ago. There was this chase scene at the end with that camper-van, but I can remember they lost. The camper was eventually stopped and surrounded and than put on fire with the people in it. End of movie.
It was a pretty interesting movie though.

"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

Yes thats right! Kind of a wierd ending being surrounded by fire and losing to them. Did you find the chase scene reminisant of the chase scene in Mad Max 2?Nightwalker wrote:I've seen this movie too, many years ago. I just watched Race With the Devil and it has Peter Fonda, Hot Lips from Mash, and Warren Oates starring in it. Total mid 70's schlock and very poorly made.
However, I do believe that chase scene at the end was very possibly the inspiration for the MM2 ending chase scene. They are too similar not to be related.
Incredibly, they are remaking this movie. Look for Red State this October!

Race With The Devil is an amazing film, and I do believe a well made film. Red State isn't a remake of Race, but Kevin Smith says the film had a strong influence on Red State.

I loved that movie as a kid. Not exactly a great movie but still has something going for it that makes it worth the watch even today.

I can remember many thing from this movie besides the ending but not that particular chase, so I'm not able to judge about that.nightrider541 wrote:Did you find the chase scene reminisant of the chase scene in Mad Max 2?

Just rewatched this movie again and im quite sure that George Miller got the idea for the final chase scene for Mad Max 2 from this movie. The scenes are too identical for it not to be an inspiration for Mad Max 2.
PS: you gotta love how cars blow up on impact in movies made in the 70's and 80's.

The sacrifice scene where we just see Fondas reaction as he lowers reminds me so much of when the gyro captain sees the girl get killed by the matauders. Miller must have seen this, no argument at all.
