Hot Wheels 73 Falcon XB

Post by mfpmax »

Hopefully the attachment works. But got word from someone on another forum that Hot Wheels had a Falcon XB, not sure if its already know but I went to Walmart here in the US and picked one up. The back of the package however says its birthplace is Dearborn Michigan, but they just may be doing that for ALL their Ford models.

I went through over 100 cars in K-Mart, to no avail.

I did find a gold Delorean though!
LTDHO = Supercharged Intercooled 5.7L 360rwkw, 6 speed

XB Coupe = Stock Fairmont GS with 351 and 4 speed.

But I really want a 600rwhp XB coupe!

There's another thread about them here somewhere. Anytime I go someplace where they sell Hot Wheels I check, but still haven't found any. So I bought a couple on eBay.

So why did it take 37 years, Mattel?

The gold Deloreans seem to be a dime a dozen - I could have had 5 or 6 in one of the stores I checked alone. The XBs do seem to be in lower quantities for whatever reason, although I'd keep looking, because they're out there.

I'm curious about the card pictured above - it shows #07 (of 10?). The previous pics on the forum, and the one I picked up local, are #48 of 52. So is the XB packaged two different ways, or is one of the packagings incorrect?

International (non-US) and US numbering.

Thanks for the info.

If you still haven't picked one up yet, I'd suggest all the stores running Toy Sales at the moment. Most have just restocked their shelves, so if you get in quick, you should find a few. I just picked up a couple at Target Melbourne, I also got one a couple of weeks back at Target Doncaster - if you've got a Target near you, worth a try. If you still can't find any let me know, I've got a couple spare now and could sent them your way for cost + postage.

I think the rarity/scarcity was artificial, caused by hoarding.

Now all the initial demand has been met, they will be common.

At last, a childhood wish fulfilled...until that damn things in my hands! One thing though, I remember the blower and intake can be taken from the "Blown Camaro Z-28" Hot Wheel from the '80s, and fitted onto this Hot Wheel. Can't wait to try...Dremel here I come...
