Nicholas Hoult is walking "Fury Road," the new "Mad Max" movie from series writer-director George Miller.
Zoe Kravitz, Teresa Palmer and Adelaide Clemens also are in various states of negotiations to join the actioner.
The movie is set a short while after the story detailed in 1985's "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome," which keeps Mad Max, the character originated by Mel Gibson, relatively young.
Details are being kept quiet, but it is known that Hoult's character is named Nux. Kravitz, whose character's name is Five Wives, Palmer and Clemens are in a convoy being chased by bad guys.
Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy are starring in the pic. The movie will shoot in Australia this summer; Warner Bros. will distribute.
The U.K.'s Hoult made his feature debut in "About a Boy" and starred in the British series "Skins." His work in "A Single Man" earned him a BAFTA nomination. The actor, repped by UTA and Independent, also will appear in Warners' remake of "Clash of the Titans."

If it's true then so far so good. What would be a Mad Max movie without a convoy chased by the bad guys?
Also, I can't help but notice that 4 of the actors are young (born in the 80s) I wonder if Miller is stretching out Thunderdome's 'saving the kids' theme.

Teresa Palmer and Adelaide Clemens are Australian, so the cast isn't totally "non-aussie", and only one American, that we know of, has been cast/is in negotiations. As for this Hildebrandt guy, he probably listed himself as a rumored Max on IMDB for attention.RW-777 wrote:I just noticed there's a guy listed to play Max:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2864849/
So this Mark Hildebrandt could justifiably be considered. Although, if you ask me,
he looks like that mugshot of the NightRider on Max's telly![]()
Also, this whole thing about a seemingly, so-far non-aussie cast. You can
just imagine Miller turning around and saying, "Well, look at the original Mad Max"!
He's obviously under the thumb of his American paymasters.

If teh story in this movie is suuposed to happen after Thunderdome, I hope they choose an actor at east 40 years old or older, cause I believe that is what Max was portrayed as in MM3, (even though he wasn't even 30 at the time)

I think that's right. Was it one of the souvenir magazines that had a sort of timeline stating that Max was 40-ish by the time of Thunderdome? We keep hearing that Fury Road takes place afterward, but with the Interceptor back and rumored-Max Tom Hardy being in his early 30s (even though yeah, Mel was like 28/29 in MM3) I still think its set vaguely between MM1 and MM2. Has Miller outright said "Its after Thunderdome."?zykotec wrote:If teh story in this movie is suuposed to happen after Thunderdome, I hope they choose an actor at east 40 years old or older, cause I believe that is what Max was portrayed as in MM3, (even though he wasn't even 30 at the time)

These young faces being cast should be no surprise to anyone who remembers the description of a certain casting call for Fury Road way back in 2003.
Not sure what's meant by "full of life". As opposed to "full of morose"?
http://www.filmjerk.com/columns/article.php?id_col=3The new Mad Max film, "Fury Road," begins shooting June 1. Director George Miller appears to be sticking with the storyline he created with "Beyond Thunderdome," as the production is looking for a number of teenagers. The girls will be beautiful, splendid, capable, humorous and refined. The boys, young warriors and street punks, will be athletic, lean, tough, strong and physical. All are humorous and full of life.

"Palmer and Clemens are in a convoy being chased by bad guys."
"The girls will be beautiful, splendid, capable, humorous and refined."
Does anyone remember a supposed plot that had something to do with Max escorting a group of "purebloods" through/away from "mutated marauder" territory? I remember hearing something like that around the time Brendan McCarthy's involvement was first announced. So maybe, Road Warrior = gasoline, Fury Road = hot teenage girls?
