New Post Apocalypse Vehicle Design, and other Concepts....

Post by Barry Harker »

Hello All,

Due to the Fact that there is A lot Information and Images, I have posted Links insted of Images.
"it just means you have to click on each link, sorry about that" ! ;)
I did try and post it with the Images but.....it took bloody ages to load !
so this way was easier.

Any way, hope you all had a good new year and looking forward to seeing some great models from every one.

Well here is the start of my first Progect of the New Year.
However you may just have to bare with me a little on this one as Im going to explain the route I tend to take and show you a few sketch's along the way.

When ever I build a Model I always sketch my Idea out first, more of a case of seeing what it might look like instead of just pottering away and ending up with a model I dont like. I have over 18 sketch books full of ideas on possible models,Aircraft, cars,Spacrcraft,Buildings and all sorts of odd Ideas !
and its these sketch books that are somtimes good to return to and maybe Alaberate on some of the Designs a little further.

Just latley I have been Building a lot of post apocalypse models,
with some of the vehicles it easy to just dig into a parts box and see what looks right.
but on some of the models the arangement can be a little more complicated. particularly with My next model which is going to be a full Skratch Build.

Here are two of the rough outlines.........

The same aproach went into the Mustang Model, Get the rough Idea on Paper first and then when it looked about right.
as with Design 2, then I would Build the model with that design in mind....

And the 49 Mercury.....

The Road Runner was the First of the Post Apocalypse models I built where I needed to do a few Rough sketchs first, to get the look I wanted......

Here are a few rough sketchs taken out of my sketch books.Once the idea is on Paper I can always go back to it later and improve upon it if I think a good design or model could come out of a rough sketch.
I even take a few Sketch books with me if I go away on Holiday or Work.
"you never know when a good idea might pop into your head !"
these drawing are very rough but you kind of get the idea.

Back when I was at college, A freind needed a THUNDERBIRDS inspired looking Vehicle for a possible TV Advertisement. I did a few rough sketch's
in my Book and then got strait on with building a fully working radio controlled model.the end result Worked well.....

And here is my Next Model.
A POST APOCALYPSE HEMI Powerd Buggy/offroader.

This model will be a full Skratch build"apart from the Engine and wheels".
and it will be built to the same scale as the other post apocalypse models,1/24.
Because the model is going to use complicated construction on the Body,
well its more of a rollcage and framework, I needed to get the Design On paper first.
This model will probably also take the longest of all the Post apoc, models to complete.

here are the first designs for the model..........

http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww91 ... oncept.jpg
http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww91 ... cept-1.jpg
it will also have a heavley modified HEMI engine with Duel Ram air intake
http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww91 ... action.jpg
The second Design strech's the Chassis a little and Incorarates a top mounted Duel Cannon,
http://i709.photobucket.com/albums/ww91 ... cept-2.jpg
I am working on some more sketchs to see what it looks like with Raised Suspension to make it sit higher on the wheels and some body work panels on some of the frame work for more Driver and co-pilot Protection.
and this one Definatly belongs to the "Bad Guys" of the open Wastelands of the POST APOCALYPTIC FUTURE !

I will post the other finished sketch's next weekend and then get on with building the Model.

Take care and all the best for 2010

Barry. :D
