Who Built the New Interceptor???
Who Built the New Interceptor???
Hi all, my name is Ash and I am a long time fan of this site. I am currently in the process of building my own Interceptor, having recently purchased a XB Coupe. Was wondering if any one out there would know of who may have built the new Interceptor as shown by George Miller recently. The nose cone looks suspiciously like a modified nose cone from Advanced Spoilers, however the front wheels do no look like Sunraysia's. What do you guys think?

The front flares are ... well .. unusual.
From what I saw the 6/71 has gained front and possibly rear bearing cases.
Oh and it's sprouted a passenger side mirror.

It ALMOST looks like there's welding going on between the fenders (Wings, is it?) and the nose cone.. All steel front, possibly??
Poor quality pic on my monitor.

I dont mind the "Chicken Wire" headlight covers on the Monza (aka Concord, Arcadipane designed) front end, they look very post apocalyptic. The front tyres look a little thin? Maybe its the angle of the photo most replica's use 8" Tyres on the front, the Wheels also look like a Simmons Mag Wheel I will try to chase up some pics.
Re: Who Built the New Interceptor???
Found a good picture to compare the wheels, they definatly look like a Simmons "Three Peice" wheel, not sure of the model name though. Looking at posts on the web it looks like the Simmons factory has shut down! Check out the picture I made, looks prety conclusive:
just a shame the company is now closed. Apparently they have sold the patterns to someone else.

Let's keep in mind that we don't know how FINISHED the car is..
For all we know, the correct wheels may be on backorder, the chicken wire was just to protect the headlights during test drives and.. Whatever else. (Couldn't think of any more)

Re: Who Built the New Interceptor???
A valid point Foxtrot, however if they were to use the old "Sunraysia" style wheels, these are a very cheap and commonly used steel wheel, especially in commercial Four Wheel Drives so I would imagine that they would not on back order. The Chicken wire might also be a reference to Mel Gibsons "Chicken Run" movie (Just Kidding!!

It`s a poultry continuity thing. Johnny the Goose`s new line in Mad Max 4 is "Hey fella, you`re a turkey er I mean chicken, you know that?"
Re: Who Built the New Interceptor???
Ha Ha!! Classic! Anywho... Found a picture of the original builder of the interceptor, Peter Arcadipane.
Re: Who Built the New Interceptor???
Like all other interceptors, pursuit specials BoB's and replicas (except the Nightriders Holden), it was built by Ford , in the 70's
Some modification may have been done later though
