Would this be a good base for yellow Interceptor?

Post by OpiateMFP »

Hey guys I just found this on craigs list here in Vegas and I was wondering if this would be a good base for the yellow Interceptor? Even though its a comet and American?

Sorry Guys!!! http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/car/519835995.html

I've done some studying on the Comet/Maverick 4-doors and there is a LOT of similarity. At the Maverick/Comet club website, I think, they have pictures of the prototype Maverick and it is a Falcon XB sedan. I don't know if someone found that pic and assumed it was a prototype or if they really know that is a picture of the original prototype, but they say it is.

The Comet/Maverick has a hard body line down the side that the Falcon doesn't have and also the door handles are the grip type with thumb button instead of the lift type on the Falcon. Otherwise the silloette (sp?) is VERY VERY similar. I had thought about plans for doing the same thing myself after I am finished with my BoB. Perhaps a real good body guy can either heat and flatten out that hard line on the sides or cut it out and weld it up again, or perform some other magic to remove the line. Getting your hands on an XB front clip would really finish the look, or else do some more fabicating to get it to look closer.

I think the maverick would be abit small to really look right, but that's just me..here is a XB sedan for comparison..

I reckon it would look great in red, yellow and blue pajamas. Many years ago I was thinking about turning my torana hatch into a BoB lookalike ie. roof spoiler, flares, bootspoiler. Back then xb coupes could be bought for $2000 au so it was more logical to do that instead. If you can't get the exact model I think you need to use what you have.
So yeah, do it.

...sorta slow motion. he leaves the seat, goes through the windscreen, headfirst straight into the tree...right. and then, bounces back through the windscreen. by the time we got to him.. he was just sittin there trying to scream with his face ripped off......whats the matter?

I'd say go for it if the car is fairly clean. Remember that it's NOT an XB so it won't be one....it's very close for what's available here and once the paint is on most people won't realize what is is to begin with.

Granted it's no XB, but I think the general shape of it would work. What do you think?

And just for giggles, how about a Kingswood interceptor?

I still kick myself for not buying that 4 door Maverick at auction for $20...it had a V8 in it too!
