a piece of history
here we go boffins. has anyone every found out the original details of max,s xbgt before it was converted into the interceptor. ie. who owned the car from new , the dealer it came from, who purchased it from them from the " film crew " etc. how much was paid for it . and what made them choose a falcon to be " a piece of history "
speed is just a question of money, how fast do you wana go !!

I believe Scott Smith and Peter Barton have most of that info and will be documenting it into a DVD in the near future. From what i understand it will be the ultimate in Mad Max FAQ. You guys thought Back to the Max was good, wait till you see this. All your questions will be answered.

The upcoming Documentary being produced by some of the original cast to celebrate MM1 will be a killer. Check out the site http://www.madmaxonline.com
The difference between this doco is that alot of folk from MM1 have been interviewed, so it will be straight from the horses mouth literally.
- I cant wait for it as it will a rare insight into the behind the scenes of MM1 and it will fill in many unanswered areas that folk often seem to speculate. Without a doubt theres more credability about gooses bike from the stuntman that rode it in the chase scenes or the mechanic that built up the B.O.B etc or the costume designer or to see original pictures of the nightrider car before they filmed it as against people that have become self righteous on thinking they are the experts because they have built a replica and done some research.
Cheers

As a fan I cant wait for either DVD, I am sure that Scott and Peter's DVD will also include interviews with crew members including Murray who owned the B.O.B. Its a good time to be a fan of the movie

I'm also looking forward to the release of both of these DVDs. Huge undertakings and all cudos to both Scott and Tim for going out on a limb producing them. I'll be happy to pay the rrp on both as I can't see either enterprise being a ticket to early retirement.
Though why Rossco has to cast scorn on those who have had to "built a replica and done some research." is a little beyond me.
In the absence of facts ... held, quite understanably, to mintain the integrity of both these projects ... what other option is available to mere mortals?
Self righteousness is obviously not limited to we couch bound 'experts'.

Its not about Scorning folk, The comment was made in relation to people speculatiing how a vehicle was made and how it looked etc.People claim their particular replica is movie correct as they have spoken to a guy that knew a guy that told them in a pub.......my point is that getting first hand knowledge and comments from the ORIGINAL builders or the people that actually worked on and drove the vehicles adds way more credability.
Fact # 1 : Did you know the eh ute Goose drove was dragged out of a paddock prior to filming and worked on over a number of days, as the budget was running out ? The source of information : Clive Rowell ( Mechanic on MM1 )
Fact #2 : Did you know the radiator was taken out of the B.O.B to fit into Big Bopper after it hit the blue Bongo Van as money was also tight ?
Straight from the horses mouth is always the better option in my opinion. So lets welcome the doco's.
Cheers Rossco

I am not sure who Rossco is talking about or how he knows what people have done or who they talk to. I also cant understand the need to 'bash' others, if he named them they could respond otherwise who knows who is is talking about and some may incorrectly think it is them. In any case I believe it is unecessary
I know all that attended easternats saw pictures of the nightrider car before fiming with its original rego plates on as well as plenty of other great pics. There is no monopoly on this stuff. There were plenty of people such as xa man and last xc who were not pictured but spent a while talking with Murray about the cars.
I do know that Scott has Murray Smith interveiwed for his dvd so that is pretty much from the horses mouth and I believe Tim has Mel and George which is a great feat. From my understanding one dvd is focussed on the movied Mad Max, its making and impact on fans and the other is focussed on the B.O.B. I am sure there will be some crossing over but in the end the fans win.
I hope that we can get on with being fans of the movie rather than trying to compete to see who is the biggest fan or knows the most about how the movies was done.
