Don't take this the wrong way, but the lack of Mel Gibson is a good sign if you believe in patterns.

James Bond series: Recently replaced actor and completely changed the character of James Bond - Casino Royale is way more serious than the PG-13 trash that was the last Brosnan movies.

Batman series: Recently replaced actor and completely changed the character of Batman - Batman Begins was not a comic book movie, its predecessors were, well. I don't think they even deserve the comic book movie category.

My point is that Fury Road follows in the path of excellent franchise restarts - the chance that we see a Thunderdome-ish movie filled with kids and ridiculousness is low. :)

Good points here. If Miller chooses Eric Bana or somebody else, make Max look and act darker. Also have him contain some other secondary motives besides saving society or something. No more little kids or Tina Turner singing which I was more than glad to cut out of my copy of "Beyond Thunderdome" which I renamed "Beyond No Tomorrow".
