Avoid the UK based museum Cars of the Stars - home to the original Interceptor - as they have banned ALL photography and have threatening CCTV signs everywhere. No photos available for purchase either so the decision just seems to be a miserable one.

They were selling a postcard when I went with Adie, John etc. But the photo was ruined by a certain man that looked rather out of place on the pic, remember Adie!

Hey, dont bite my head off Brad. Ive been waiting 24 years to see that car and the wonderous experience that it should have been was spoiled by the museums lack of respect for visitors. I really cant tell you how little interest the staff (all one of him) seemed to have in the car or those coming to see it. Anyway, find out for yourself.

The postcard mentioned in the thread above has to be seen to be believed by the way, it has dodgy picture of the interceptor with some local stripper trying to look like Humungous!

Well Johnny, at least you have the car in the UK, its been there for what ,13 years or so now.

It does also say on the front page of the cars of the stars website that there is no photography allowed, and has always been that way, look through the history pages about the car, the address is linked from this site.

Just plain SILLY on their part, IMO..

I can see a reason for a policy like that if what's being photographed is a fragile Artifact could be harmed over time by the camera flash.

But a CAR??

Ridiculous

I've been in museums that Encourage photography..

There's a Car Museum some 100 miles west of here that sells disposable cameras in the Lobby, for pete's sake.

The Manager at the Oregon Trail Museum in Scottsbluff Nebraska was practically jumping for joy when I asked if it was okay to photograph the antique firearms.

(She even offered to open the cases!)

I suppose CotS must have some.. money issue.

Trying to prevent someone from making money somehow on pics of their exhibits.

I know a few guys that have had their pics taken with the car and that's pretty cool of the museum. I also have pics from 1994 that Peter Nelson sent to a guy in the USA when he was attempting to build a replica. I'm sure that if I were to visit the museum and explianed that I came a long way to see the car that I'd also be able to have my pic taken with the car.

Why they don't allow pics is beyond me.......if they did, how wuold it hurt them?? Worst case is they'd have repeat customers wanting more photos !!! He has the original coupe and that can't be taken away from him....anything else is just a copy, so what's the deal??

I firmly believe he's lost tons of business due to the fact you can't take pics.

Yes, it's the original film car sitting there with the proper VIN, but it's wasting away in some dimly lit spot, humiliated between a 308GT and Chitty-Chitty Bang Bang, with some muscle-poser poster in front of it, and it's not true-to-the-movie anymore. IMO, they ruined it by repainting it, putting on a nosecone with smoked plex covers, removing the contents and putting on smaller tyres...then whoring it out, all to recoup some of their expenses and not for the sheer honor of owning an important piece of Australian movie history, let alone a cultural icon...it's a slap in the face . I think Doug, Adrian, G+G and others out there make/made a true to movie-correct car...albeit...a replica that have far more visual impact. If I were in the area, sure I'd go see it, as part of my "pilgrimage", but it's just somehow...lacking. Maybe I'd change my mind if I ever saw the real one...and maybe right now I'm just blaspheming again.

Actually Bronze i saw a more recent picture and the Interceptor now has a General Lee next to it... (at least the company is a bit better!).... and those headlamp covers have been replaced with the proper lens with the gold striping. Still the car in its present condition is no where near close to what it once was.......

Cant understand as to why photos are allowed.......
