It gets released on Nov 17 2006 which is almost a year away. They've probably got a bunch of cgi rendering going on right now and its anybodys guess how much has been completed so far. Then there's final editing and post followed by promotion and and press junkets and the like which take up a lot of time and travel. All procedure that could wrap just weeks before its release. And Gibson is probably on a similiar schedule with his film Apocalypto except he started out on a live set.

I hope the next MM film is lacking in CGI. CGI could easily ruin it, overuse of CGI most certainly would...

That's what made the original MM1 so awesome. All the stuff was REAL! Like when Toecutter, Bubba Zanetti, Cundalini, Mudguts, et al were locked in a shed on Mae's farm, those were real bricks being pushed out as the bikers rammed it full force. No break-away locks, no CGI bullsh*t, no added sound effects. The car crash scenes were very authentic, as was the speed in many cases. You actually got to see Goose doing a buck ten through them twisties on that Kwaka, you could look right down at the speedometer. No speeding up the camera Fast and Furious BS there!
A Mad Max film just wouldn't be a Mad Max film if CGI laden.

Uh oohhhhhhhh Not a good sign about that mention of CGI.
Well there's a time and a place for it and hopefully MM4 ain't it.
I watched The Punisher the other night on DVD. According to the documentaries on it they used zero CGI. (actually I think they're telling porkies saying that, since the car park scene at the end looked distincty CGI) They said that all the stunts were "Old school" stuff. i.e. Real. Which made for a cheaper, and therefore, more econimical film.
Apparently a man safely sat at a PC (perhaps risking a mild case of RSI) creating a CGI stunt costs an absolute bundle. While a real live stuntman, strapped into a car and flung off of a bridge doing a risky stunt actually works out cheaper.
"Go figure" as the colonials here would say.
