Warner Bros. Pictures is negotiating with Antoine Fuqua ("King Arthur", "Training Day") to direct Mel Gibson in his next picture, "Under and Alone" reports Variety.

Scripted by Ned Zeman and Daniel Barnz, "Under and Alone" is based on the true story of Vietnam vet William Queen. He channeled his Special Forces training into undercover work with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and became a full-fledged member of the San Fernando chapter of the Mongols motorcycle gang.

"Under and Alone" will mark Gibson's first major role in front of the camera since M. Night Shyamalan's "Signs" in 2002. Gibson took time off from acting to direct "The Passion of the Christ."

I'm not. Full Metal Jacket was my favorite war film. It was hailed as one of the best and most real war movies ever made. It was even compared to Platoon in which case, I thought FMJ was better because I saw and read news reports from Vietnam veterans that said Platoon didn't happen the way Oliver Stone said it did. I even talked with some Vets and they said the same things. They told me to check out FMJ because they agreed that it was more real and better than Platoon.

Sooner or later, movies about the IRAQ and Aphganistan war are going to be made. That will rock. That's, at the least, a dozen movies right there alone.

oh, i like PLATOON the best, i like the jungle, not the city, in which JACKET takes place.

ANTOINE is a cool director, TRAINING DAY, and TEARS OF THE SUN, are some of my favourite movies.

Naaaw its hard to forget about the 50+K who died over there and remember Aussie's fought there too what do you think Dire Straights song'Brothers in Arms'is about.plus especially in the USA,war movies still do good in the box office mostly.What i have yet to see is a good movie about the Korean conflict as in only 3 years we lost over 50K soldiers there as well.it truly is..the forgotten war.

Ya know, although Mad Max movies ain't going to ge that big no more, a loss for the next generation that they can't see cars blowing up, but there are still post-apocalypse movies coming out.

George Romero's Land of the Dead is another apocalypse film out there.

Ummm, there was actually over 500,000 US soldiers alone that got killed in Nam. That number doesn't cover all of the allied forces either. That's a city the size of Seattle, for a war, er...conflict that lasted "10,000 days." I wasn't in Nam, but I remember seeing on the telly the chopper on the roof in '75 during the pullout. I went to The Wall in DC a few years back...picture a black wall about 10 feet high at the lower corner, about 100 feet in either direction, with names about 3/8" high, covering the whole thing. I'll freely admit, it choked me up.
