DDA 1/24 Interceptor
DDA 1/24 Interceptor
Hi everyone, Just wanted to warn you all about this model. I saw them in a local model shop today after watching them on ebay over the last few weeks....
The quality is absolutely abysmal, Ive got a Cavalier kit and was hoping the diecast would compare favourably with a nice paint job and engine detail.
The paint has dust, marks and general crap in it, the panel edges are rough underneath the paint. Worst of all the windscreen has 2 massive lugs at the top where it pushes into the body and the "clear" plastic used is blueish and slightly opaque with scratches and marks. You can see straight through the rear wheel arches(its jacked up)..
Dont mean to be picky but these are atrocious....Dont pay big dollars for these....
Cheers ANdrew B

Andrew,
what was the price of the DDA car at that hobby shop? These cars started at $145 on ebay and are now down as low as $80.

Doug,
My normal supplier wants $90.00AU plus postage ( $30.50AU ) . I think they're all going for about that price and it is pretty high for what it is. However, as bad as it appears, it definitely looks better than the Dinkum car.

i am waiting for mine to come in the mail....i have seen pictures and i think it looks good.....i mean it could have been better if they had the MFP liscence plate on it and the white BF GOODRICH lettering on the tires......its not really a dead on resemblance to the car but then again how many times have you ever seen a diecast replica that dead on resembles anything...

That's pretty much what I paid for mine. I'll modify mine to look a bit better but can't be bothered spending much time on it. Mainly just add better rims/tires, satin black paint, fix the tail lamps and rear plate and a few other small and easy details.

Hi Doug & Scar, The shop wants $99 AUs which is apparently RRP, he says it should be $40-50 to be fair for the quality apparently theyre not selling very well....
Scar,I agree the Dinkum is a much worse piece of crap, but if the rumours are true about an Ertl 1/18 next year then that will be much better than either for a similar price..
The DDA is made by a crowd called Motormax who make very cheap $10 models of corvettes etc which are reasonable value at that price, this "Interceptor" is the same quality but at a very high price which I think may plummet in the near future.
I can just imagine the poor ebayer who (like me) gets a bit excited by the good pics and pays $80-140, and when it arrives will be very disappointed....
Just my opinions, Cheers, Andrew b

DDA 1/24 Interceptor
Hello Guys. I just got my DDA Interceptor today. My wife bought it for Christmas for me. Anyhow here are my thoughts on it for anyone else considering to purchase it. First The good news. It's metal. It has rubber Tires. Although the rear tires are the same size as the front tires. Which is incorrect. The hood opens. The Doors open. The bottom line , For what my wife paid for it off of E-Bay, I expected a better Replica. The instrument panel on the dash is represented by a sticker. The Scale seems off. I don't think its a true 1/24 scale. Anyone else considering this would be better off buying the Aoshima 1/24 Inteceptor kit and adding the conversion kit available, To make it look like the car from the first film. It's a lot less money and you get a better replica. I plan on posting pictures of it as soon as I can. Regards, Mark

yeh i got mine too. the detail isnt worth the $99 that i paid ! its still a good model to have but i think im going to have to do alot of touching up ! the whole bottom is just black, the interior looks nothing like the real one, except for the siren and the button on the gear stick, the wheels dont have any decals, there is no paint on the handles or key hole, the engine has pretty basic detail, onlt the blower and blower bottom is crome.
