The Punisher

Post by two-lane »

I saw the previews for this movie a few monthes ago, and te movie looked really good, but i didnt see it in theaters. So about 2 weeks ago, i rented the movie.

Its the exact same as Mad Max.

Exactly.

Heres the storyline from "The Punisher"

The guy is an undercover cop and he gets the son of a mob leader killed.

They find out all about him and that hes in Florida or somthing at a family reunnion. So he orders that his whole family is to be killed.

Well, they come and wipe out most of the family, but the main charter and his dad grab shotguns and kill some of the attackers. So he tells his wife and one son to run, and they get in a Chevy S15 Jimmy and drive away. The attackers follow in a truck.

So the mom and kid drive away and they eventually flip the Jimmy, so they run to the dock.

The mob guys follow in the truck. So the mom and kid run down the dock for the boat, but then the guys in the truck, RUN THEM DOWN.

And the husband guy follows and looks for them, they they find him, beat him up and shoot him in the chest. They think hes deead so they kick him into the water.

But he comes back and gets his dads guns and stuff.

Then he gets a primer matte black 74 GTO and kills a guy and yeah, he flips the car going off a bridge and thats the end of that.

So yeah, hes getting his revenge so he goes to the mob place and kills all the guys friends with a sawed off shotgun and gets shot in the knee. So then he kills the mob leader guy by shoting him to immobilize him and then he ties him to a car and drags him throguh a feild of cars that he has set to blow up. And he kills him.

Some other similaties that i see is the guy wears black leathers and also has a Magnum handgun.

Also, when hes killing the mob guy he throws pictures of his family at him. Or maybe that was before...?

Anyway, the movie is truly great and everyone should rent it.

There were a lot of parallels, but I wouldn't go so far as to say "Exactly" the same..

I was initially Very skeptical of the casting of Tom Jayne.. But as it turns out he did a very good job.

Favorite line is after he Fights the Russian..

anyone seen the original PUNISHER movie? or is this a TEXAS CHAINSAW/DAWN OF DEAD situation, where noone even knows this is a remake?

Has DOLPH LUNDGREN in it, was ok. for its time, (early 90's) probably to 'Mucho man' and corny now though...

Sure some scenes were just like that of Mad Max but please keep in mind that 'The Punisher'has been around since 1974 when he first appeared as a villian to kill Spiderman in 'The Amazing Spiderman issue 129 Feb. 74'.Tho i love the Mad Max movies, cars ect. i also am a HUUUGE Punisher fan i even have the skull tatoo'd on my arm,I have 90% of all the comics and collect just about anything to do with the Marvel comics charactor.and Thomas Jane did a excellent job as Frank Castle. So if anyone here wishes to bash the film 'which was muuuch ebtter that that piece of sh*t version that came out in 89 starring Dolph Lungren and ironically filmed in OZ'keep in mind that maybe the fimer writers, directors were fans of Mad Max as well.

and lastly SIC VIS PACUM,PARRA BELLUM which translates to'If you want peace,Prepare for war!' those who are interested in the Marvel comic charactor plese visit www.thepunisher.com

most people don't know THE CROW was first written in 1980, though it had like a 8 year break before the final issue came out. Lucky for me i read the comic like 4 years before the movie, same with SPAWN, that was a badarse comic, sh*t movie.

I just got through watching it....and have to say that I dont consider it a rip off, but I highly suspect that someone was either a HUGH madmax fan or was simply doing an honor to mad max. Everything I saw was from MM1.

In punisher, when wife and kid are killed they are driving to get away from an ambush, leave car, run down together and he catches up too late. Also notice that he is wearing a wifebeater and carrying a shootgun. Even some of the camera angles are very similar. He also gets hit in the leg dropping him to one knee....and again another very similar body position.

I also thought that the bomb he gives the other brother at the end of the movie was similar to johnny the boy. The way the dialog was setup very similarly. "dont leave me like this" etc.
