MAD MAX sh*t...
this is just a post to draw attention to some MAD MAX sh*t, i've noticed in movies lately, well not lately, i've noticed them for years but had to build up a big enough list to deserve a Thread.
I picked up the BAD TASTE DVD. a few weeks ago, awesome extras, its really worth getting (the REGION 4, not REGION 1, that has f**k all extras.) And in a MAKING OF DOCO. PETER JACKSON was in his basement, explaining how how he did some of the FX. and there was a MAD MAX 2 poster on his wall behind him, it was the cool AUSSIE DAYBILL, of the three squares with HUMUNGUS, WEZ, and BEARCLAW in them. There wern't any other movie posters on his wall, so he must really like the movie.
CABIN FEVER - anyone seen this? its a cool HORROR movie about a disease that eats flesh. Anyway on the DVD of that, theres a Q&A. with the director and he's talking about this character in it called DENNIS, this psycho little kid, that bites and does kung fu on anyone who comes near him. - Well the director ELI ROTH talked about how he's a huge ROAD WARRIOR fan, and he wanted to get EMIL MINTY for the part of DENNIS, cause he wanted his own FERAL KID, but he went for this other guy instead. that was so cool to hear.
GREMLINS - man, i musta seen this a hundred times as a kid, then i rented it for my kids recently, and i goddamn noticed a ROAD WARRIOR poster up in Billys room, its the US. theatrical one of the painting of MAX's side, and HUMUNGUS' side with Bearclaws gauntlett on, ya now. I don't know why i never noticed it as a kid.
LAST ACTION HERO - when JACK SLATER and DANNY are in that video shop looking for Braunschneigger movies, you can clearly see a Rental of ROAD WARRIOR on a shelf, next to like YOUNG GUNS 2, its the same cover as the AUSSIE MAD MAX 2, of MAX and DOG waliking down the highway, its like a silver background.
TRUE ROMANCE - Christien slaters character Clarence, is talking to the movie producer Lee Donowitz, and in his speech he says "MAD MAX thats a movie, GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY, thats a movie, RIO BRAVO, thats a movie, and COMING HOME IN A BODYBAG, thats a f**king movie"...
Anyome else got any?
I hear MAD MAX referred to in a lot of Commentarys too, including MEL himself refer to MILLERs directing style in the commentary to BRAVEHEART.

Wasn't there a Mad Max 1 poster at the Police Station in Taxi 3?

I could probably make it on my own, but I like you kids.

Haven't seen TAXI 3, but it wouldn't surprise me, those movies are heavily inspired by the MAX world.
Jesus anyone seen the f**king previews to that bullsh*t Queen Latifah remake of TAXI?

Not yet Rock, but I'm pretty sure that I will hate this peace of junk! Queen Latifah as a female Daniel (Sami Naceri)? They didn't understand anything!

yeah, it ain't a direct REMAKE, like i don't think she's a cop, but she drives one round with the same agenda, and they rip off the awesome 'broken bridge' scene.
Saw the preview at AVP.

not exactly references, but anyone remember in PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT, when they stop in the middle of nowhere, get out and look down that highway?
well, you must also remember what they were looking at, they were standing right where the MACK wreck was, and down the road was the intersection the INTERCEPTOR tears off toward after MAX pockets the Hurdy Gurdy.
RAZORBACK, awesome AUSSIE movie i bring up as often as possible, also had scenes filmed in MUNDI MUNDI (AKA. MAD MAX brake) And in one scene a character walks right up to the top of the exact same hill as MAX and GYRO camped on overlooking the compound, and you can see the PINNACLES here and there in the background of some scenes.

Yeah Rock, there's loads of photos up in the Silverton pub from the filming of Razorback, amongst others.

Razorback is a great movie!
I just wish you could get it on DVD, my VHS copy has been lent to a friend and not returned!
