New guy to the site. I only wanted to say how much these movies resonate - I thought they only got to me but I see that there are other folks out there who have been swept up by them also.

Wondered why, in the world of these films, even though everything is messed up beyond belief, things seem a little cleaner-cut than they do in real life.

Given the choice - where would you live - there or here?

jesus, it's a little obvious ain't it?

Then again it would probably depend on my position in society Image

In the Max world, gazoline is for free, there are no speed limits, no car taxes, no highway charges and you can practically do everything you want.

In our world, when you kill a cop, you go to jail and you end on the electric chair. The Max world gives you a hot Monaro and you have a dignified death.

In our world, when you want to lead masses, you have to be a popstar or a corrupted politician. In the Max world only the strongs survive and they build towns in the middle of nothing.

In our world, when you're a dwarf you appear in a circus and you're amusing the children. In the Max world you're looking for a giant and you become one with him.

In our world, when you have a hole in your knee you're not able to drive a car, you're laying on the asphalt and you're waiting for assistance. In the Max world you're hunting you ennemies and your wounds are just scuffs.

I choose the Max world dude! Better a short and interesting life there, than a daily routine here

Welcome, Hollywood. Hmm..Max's world or ours... the only point in favor of Max's world is that you can kill people who deserve it. Whack 'em with boltcutters, yes....

Fellers - I must admit after reading the first response to this thread I was dreading checking this board again. But, hey...

We're all here for one reason or another - for me its not because I dig car chases and stunts - although there is a massive appeal to bombing around a post-apocalyptic outback in torn leather and stubble in that car.

The reason I am here, and surely many of us (guys that watch the movies religiously, have the leather jacket, spend thousands on replica cars) is that we want to be there, in that world. Messed-up as it is, total anarchy and chaos, there's something about the nature of right and wrong there that doesn't exist here anymore. M. Bubba Fat mentioned dignity and he's totally right.

I'd rather take my chances out there - any day - than live here where there is no right and wrong just layers of bull. Its us who are in the wasteland.

By the way - which car is the Lone Wolf?

Sorry HOLLYWOOD, i'm just a prick, but i was serious though, i still think i'd prefer our world.

Though like i said, it would depend on my postition in Society, eg. if i was a HUMUNGUS or a TOECUTTER, no problem's (just don't piss off any cops, or ex cops, for that matter) But if i was stuck in a Compound, surrounded by rampaging Marauder's who would kill me for my good's, then i think i'd prefer ol' Suburban TASMANIA Image
