Little River Band
Little River Band
I seem to havea memory of this, but I am not quite sure. I believe that during the first network showing or the first cable showing of MM2. Probably around 82-83. During the initial scene where Max is trying to slip out past Humungus gang toting the cans of fuel. They had the Little River Band on the stereo around the campfire playing the "Nightowl" song. Now I am 90% sure I am remembering this correctly. Maybe it was something the added on trying to sell records. Does anyone else remember this?

That's about when I saw it (83) on HBO. Don't remember that. I do remember thinking 5 gallons of diesel and some high octane gasoline equaling 4 full 5 gallon cans on a pole being carried by a man on a bad leg as unrealistic. The cans sound damn empty too when he falls down. I know they couldn't use real full cans for the movie though. (It is a movie). I still love it though with its flaws. I was rehabing a gunshot wound to my right leg when I saw MM1 for the first time.
Mad Max helped inspire me to get through it all. I got hit with a slug from a scatter gun below my right knee. If some of you don't know what a "slug" is, its not the usual pellets a shotgun fires but a chunk of lead the size of your thumb (some skag shot me). I have pictures of my damage if you want to see them. I have had several events in my life that are similar to Max's (and Gooses for that matter). Plenty of car and bike wrecks and gunshot wounds. Mad Max has been therapy to me. I've also lossed some people I loved. That's my reason for the movies being very special.

Oh yeah, I forgot. I was also employed as a local law enforcement officer. My career was complicated by my "shady" post gunshot wound "MADness" and some other bits of my history wandering the wasteland.

No, I have not been to Detroit...or DeRiot. Where are you at Interdictor? I'm new to this place. I feel like I can maybe anonymously get some things out of my head here without blowing my cover. I'm trying to get my Kodak software to work so I can show you guys what being a real Road Warrior requires and does to you. I'll have it down soon.

I'm in Iowa, (Yawn) but was born in Detroit, and at least one of us on here lives there. This summer I was lucky enough to ride shotgun in an Interceptor down Woodward Ave, right past the hospital I was born in. What a thrill!
As for your head, we're all a little nutty here, so go ahead and unburden yourself. (but I think you'll find that you really don't need a cover here, You've stumbled on the greatest group of people on the 'Net. Welcome!)

As an aside ...
Little River ... the place that inspired the band name ... is in the thick of the MM1 locations.
