Hey everybody! I'm a longtime reader, first time poster. Hoping that someone can help me out with a question regarding the first film's script.
Just so we're clear, I'm not asking anyone to share/reproduce the script.
From what I've read, only about half of the original script was filmed. I was just wondering if the character Roop appears in any of the un-flimed scenes, and if so, what is he doing in these scenes? Thanks for your time!

Re: MM1 Original Script Question
That is true, about 50% was shot and then that half was cut in editing...
Yes there's some stuff that's missing, quite a lot actually. Not full scenes but bits and pieces for example:
When Roop tells Charlie to move over, next thing he does is he gives Charlie a sawn off pump action shotgun and tells Charlie to waste the Nightrider.
Roop orders Charlie to call Goose. In the movie we hear a female dispatcher instead but it's the guys in the car that are calling for him in the script.
I'm only 31 pages in, I'll let you know more later, but the script is so detailed and misses a so many things it might take a while to get what you need!

Re: MM1 Original Script Question
How did you get the original script, Taipan? Can you share it?
Speaking of Roop, I wonder if he was always meant to become a rogue cop (as shown in the comics).

Re: MM1 Original Script Question
I kind of wonder that, too. I've been trying to corroborate every account of the character, between how he acted in the film, the novelization, the comic, and what Millichamp has said on this board. With all his antics, like disregarding that Charlie's the assigned driver, being weirdly enthusiastic about shooting Nightrider in the face, and crashing through the caravan, Roop's already pretty rogue by the time MM begins. So I don't think it's too much of a stretch!Speaking of Roop, I wonder if he was always meant to become a rogue cop (as shown in the comics).

Re: MM1 Original Script Question
I hate that Charlie and Roop become straight-up evil, cowardly predators in the comic book. I wish Miller and company had found a better way to provide a cameo of those two.

We're still fishing around for copy of that.
I have a copy of the first novelization.
And we all have the second script.
Re: MM1 Original Script Question
The comics had a lot of fan service in it just for the sake of it. I wouldn't take them too seriously.flightsuit wrote:I hate that Charlie and Roop become straight-up evil, cowardly predators in the comic book. I wish Miller and company had found a better way to provide a cameo of those two.

Re: MM1 Original Script Question
Yeah, it was nice to see the MM universe in comics form, but I'm definitely not treating those comics as anything remotely resembling canon.
The video game, however, is wonderful, and I feel it really fleshed out the Fury Road universe.

Flightsuit,
you need to treat it the other way around. The comic books were a revamp of the franchise with a lot of external additions. But the video game doesn't belong anywhere in the canon.
