Future Mad Max movie ideas

Post by Ac26 »

I am so happy Fury Road has been such a hit. There are so many directions they could go with the franchise in the future. I wouldn't mind seeing a movie set between Mad Max and The Road Warrior. Tom Hardy is the right age to be able to pull off a younger Max in addition to older versions. Plus it would give us an entire movie with his car surviving it. It would be an interesting bridge between the pre- and post-apocalypstic settings.

What are some other Fan ideas that anyone wants to share?

A movie (or comic book series or set of novels) about formation of the MFP including the battles with the Armalite Gangs described in the Mad Max 1 novelization.

A movie about the collapse of the MFP after Max took the Black on Black V8 Pursuit Special.

A movie how Papagallo formed the oil compound in Mad Max 2. A small amount of Papagallo's background was published in the Mad Max 2 novelization.

So I watched Fury Road again the other day and came up with some cool ideas for possible sequels.

I agree that direct sequels aren't maybe the right way to go, because all Mad Max movies have been kind of standalone films and that's kind of the Mad Max thing. But I'd like to see some characters from Fury Road return and see how their story continues. I mean, don't we all want to see Furiosa again!

Anyway, I had some cool ideas that I just wanted to share.

Now, Fury Road didn't have much plot but it introduced this crazy world. The sequels should show us more of this world and tell us more about the politics of it. Yes, I know that adding some boring politics to what was a great action piece sounds like spoiling it, but I think that giving us a bit more information would give the movies more depth. And there could still be a lot of awesome action.

So, what we are left at the end of Fury Road is that the leaders of both the Citadel, Gastown and Bulletfarm are dead leaving the different tribes/groups I think in a pretty chaotic state. Furiosa and the Wives returned to the Citadel and will presumably take the lead there. Max disappears and goes his own way.. as usual.

In the first sequel Mad Max: The Wasteland (as the next film's title was revealed) Max would be wandering on the wasteland, witnessing how the all the tribes are in a chaotic state, robbing and killing each other and fighting over power, witnessing how the world is getting even more crazier.

Max would be caught (again) by one of the tribes, but suddenly that tribe would be attacked by an unknown new group, a powerful tribe large in numbers, who have a bit more advanced weapons and vehicles. The tinier tribe, who are refusing to co-operate, would be killed off completely. Max would survive and meet the ruthless leader of this new tribe (Lets call him Major), a new power player who is planning to take control over all the wasteland, subordinating or killing off every tribe, to take over the resources. And they are heading for the Citadel.
Max hears about the Major's plan. He escapes and decides to head over to the Citadel to warn them.

A few years have passed since Fury Road. Instead of peace, the wasteland has become even more chaotic with all the tribes fighting with each other; the Citadel still being the major one on top trying to have the rule.
When Max returns to the Citadel he sees how the tribe is kind of on a state of war defending its borders and that they would have built a new town safe on top of the mountains, like a fortress.

Max learns that the leader of the Citadel is Queen Furiosa, who has become quite a ruthless leader due to the chaotic circumstances. Also the Wives have actually become Furiosa's warlords themselves, now being called Valkyries. They would have become battlehardened fierce women who would all have their own troops and areas that they lead. For example the redhead would be leading the Warboys, The one with short hair would now have the lead on Bulletfarm, the black-haired one would lead the Gastown and the white-haired one would just be a bat-shit crazy warlord with his “special troops.” The Valkyries would still have the white clothes underneath but now have armor on top. I just think it would be so cool.

When Max gets to the Citadel they have already heard news of this Major's tribe and had a collision with them. Furiosa tries to make an alliance between all the little tribes so that they could together fight off this new tribe. But it doesn't quite work, because the black-haired warlord/Valkyrie betrays Furiosa and surrenders to the Major when his tribe hits Gastown. Now they are coming towards the Citadel large in numbers.
Max would confront Furiosa and try to persuade her to flee and not to go to a bloody war with this tribe, because they can't stand a chance against them. Furiosa doesn't listen and as the Queen of the tribes prepares them for a battle with the new tribe.

Now we would have a awesome batlle in the Citadel, a kind of Fortress-battle, with people climbing the rockwalls of the Citadel mountains and bombing it. We could also have some sort of aeroplanes.

Thinking about the action, Fury Road was an awesome action film, but we have to admit that it did really pump dry the carchase action. I mean, if there is a lot of carchases in the sequels it will feel very repetitive. So the sequels have to have something different.

What I think would be new and awesome is aircrafts. So what if when they are losing the battle against Major's army in Citadel, Furiosa would reveal that the fortress on top of the mountain is partly a huge aircraft – a madmad-style airship. So they would then take off with it and fly away.

At the end of the movie we would also learn that Major isn't really looking for water in the Citadel, but an old bunker deep underground where there is a stock of – uranium. Major's tribe would have found an old nuclear power station which they have rebuilt. Major's plan is to have station working and produce this great energy. They didn't have any uranium, but they found information about an old storage place and where it is. So they find uranium and head back.

Because Furiosa also gets caught by Major, Max decides to follow Major, with the airship. Because.. well he's had some tender moments with Furiosa.

That would led us to the second sequel, an end to a new trilogy.

Max is following Major and where would it take him... to a ruins of a city.. as in the end of Thunderdome. So the third movie would take place in the city ruins, which have all kinds of crazy life in there. I think it would be great.
Max would also find out that there is another tribe in the city opposing Major. And that tribe would be founded by... the children in Thunderdome.

I'll make this short because this has become kinda long.
Major would return and plan to start the nuclear station, but get killed by his own son, who has been on the lead there. His son has seen nothing but the crazy life of the wasteland. Because he sees it and humans as a disease, he wants to just erase it all. So he uses the uranium to make a nuclear weapon instead.

Max and Furiosa find this out and together with the tribes of the city they stop his plans. However the nuclear weapons they have made are unstable. Max and Furiosa manage to flee the city and at a distant see a nuclear blast destroying all the remnants of the city.

At the end Furiosa gives birth. So she becomes a mother and Max a father. So Max has a family again to protect.

SO, there were some of my ideas. What do you think?

some great ideas in there, I love the concept of a mad max villain having an old school nuke or just a big ass bomb that they parade around and terrify/threaten the other tribes and gangs with...but I'd argue that future mad max films need to stay grounded in automobiles and auto chases, gives them that primitive, western feel. Keep it in the realm of leather clad gearheads and suped-up, wasteland jalopies

#1!

I'd prefer a branching off of the Max and Furiousa storylines.

One movie for Furiousa's journey refashioning the Citadel into a healthy and helping progressive society of free-speech and gender-equality for every needy soul who comes wandering in from the wasteland.

I'm genuinely curious to see how George Miller is gonna solve that one.
He'll be more deserving of a nobel prize then a few people who have them.

And a separate movie for Mad Max being a Road Warrior.

I think your idea is pretty awesome and it would make a great Mad Max movie. Not sure about all the wives splitting off from Furiosa though.

I'd like to see Max caught up in a wagon-train style story. Imagine him picking up on a convoy in a similar situation to the tribe at the end of MM2 (though possibly better prepared and greater in numbers), they're already mobile and need to make it over a long distance ... they can't move fast and have to be able to defend themselves from marauders.

High speed action could come in the form of having to stop some marauders from running back to their base for an overwhelming amount of reinforcements.

An interesting conclusion would be the wagon train completely missing their intended destination, finding somewhere unexpected to stop and live instead.

Another idea, I have no idea how it would happen but THIS would make for an interesting climax that would outdo Fury Road :P
