Your thoughts on Mad Max 5 (SPOILERS!)

Post by kickherintheguts »

Might as well start now.
I'm thinking both Charlize and Hardy will be back.

I'm hoping that the next one doesn't connect with Fury Road just like the old movies.

At least not directly.

I would like to see more individual approach to a Mad Max story that is not about some sort of society but individuals in conflict. Basically where it's not them vs. us, but us fighting each other.

Also, it's been a while since Max actually lost something or someone. Interceptor doesn't count twice and from what I've seen of FR, he is left at the end better equipped and in better shape than when it started. Ok, he'll have a weird tattoo on his back, but that apparently doesn't affect him that much.
Cut his leg off, poke his eye out, just do something painful to him, it's Max after all.

And give him an animal companion ffs. Then hurt it instead or just hurt both of them. It seems that's one Mad Max trope not used in Fury Road at all.

Yes, i agree if they give him an animal companion like the old ones and have it killed which trigger his madness. The Interceptor in FR doesn't seem that important to him than it did in RW.

Cutting his leg off seemed too much, i don't think he's gonna survive the wasteland with one leg lol

We have been told that Hardy is on board for sequels if they get made, but I can't remember if it's the same for Theron. If she's also on board, then I guess a sequel will probably be quite "connected".

I would also prefer to see Max wandering and coming across whatever, like previous films. I don't care how great a character Furiosa (or Theron's portrayal) supposedly is, I really don't want it to turn into her story like we keep hearing Fury Road is and the sequels might be.

Then again I'm not too thrilled about this new Max anyway :).

EDIT: So I just looked at this http://www.madmaxmovies.com/forum/viewt ... 13&t=10894 thread:
owenmp wrote: In our exclusive interview with the Mad Max: Fury Road cast, Tom Hardy explains the very real correlations between Max and The Littlest Hobo. Plus Charlize opens about the motivation behind Imperator Furiosa.
Littlest Hobo, exactly what we're talking about. Maybe tomorrow I'll settle down... until tomorrow I'll just keep moving on... :)

Are we going to see a Mad Max 5 ?

I don't know, when we wrote Fury Road, with my collaborators, we had enough material for two more screenplays, including Mad Max : Furiosa. For the moment, this one is going to be a novel. For the rest, we'll see later, for the moment I want to shoot a minimalist movie, a dialogue with two actors and a table. That's it.

The next Mad Max film needs to have at least one mining supertruck, preferably armored and armed.

Mining supertrucks have terrible fuel mileage, therefore a Mad Max version could have extra fuel in the cargo area.

Damn, forgot all about that one. Still looks and sounds good. Back then we where discussing where al the footage was taken from.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

DONT READ ON UNLESS YOUVE SEEN FURY ROAD!!

Could go either way, it's not really specified if Max is going to stay in the Citadel or go wandering again, if Theron returns then I guess he stays there as I can't see her leaving.
I would suggest that the Citadel is going to come under heavy attack from another marauder gang, possibly the faction we saw attack the warrig, who spoke in a foreign language. We saw little of them, maybe deliberately so?? It would be nice to see more of inside the Citadel now. Also an attack on it, would present an opportunity for a different style of setpieces, maybe sieges ala The Twin Towers. I would always demand car chases in a Max movie but Miller will have his work cut out to top Fury Roads chase scenes and may need to think outside the box.

At some point though, I would like to see Max head back to the City (Sydney?) as you can only wonder what kind of crazies might be living there. Gives a more interactive environment for the chase scenes as well, think Fury Road chases but on desolate streets, lined with burned out cars etc. Sort of like Escape From New York, a more urban feel. I don't want all three movies to be 'sand' based as would get repetitive. Somebody suggested a water setting, I'm not sure if that would work, given the inevitable whiff of Waterworld, but if anyone could pull it off it's Miller!

So Citadel focused next for me, then Max back to the city. Then again, Miller will probably have something far more radical in mind for us. The great thing is this looks likely bar an absolute disaster at the box office ala Dredd, especially as Miller has all his foundations, sets, costumes, principal actors in place. It shouldn't be anywhere near the wait. We may even get 3 more films as Hardy is reportedly contracted and eager to do!!!!
