Wez in the compound

Post by lsttype »

After Wez head butted that poor bastard and threw him to his death, why didn't they shoot arrows at him? He was wide open when he was screaming at Max. I kinda wonder if after seeing what he had just done if they were reluctant to take a shot at him.

Because it's contrived for the sake of plot.

Because most of them are peaceful and not warriors. They were mostly clustered around and confused. There was a lot of chaos. The warriors among them were fighting...

This is the extract from the script:
INSIDE THE COMPOUND. DAY.

WEZ grabs a cable and swings from the catwalk across the cracking tower to Pappagallo's 'dinosaur tent'. He slides down the tent, leaps onto some tyres, onto a storage tank and then onto the tanker...

He hesitates a moment looking for some way to get to the gate ...

The WHOLE CAMP turns to confront him...

He ducks, the gyrocopter swoops down over his head and lands in the centre of the compound ...

An arrow, and then the Feral Kid's boomerang flies past WEZ - ... he decides to call it quits.

Running along the top of the tanker, be leaps the barbed wire fence.
So basically the script implies the members of the camp are consumed with other battles until Wez decides to make his way to the gate.

As MWFV8 said, for the sake of plot. I've always thought Max could have taken Wez out easily in the opening chase, just slam the brakes and yank the wheel to the left when he's coming alongside--and then Max would be behind the Landau, too. But it is cooler to have Wez get shot by the other pursuer.
