Tie-in with the Fury Road theatrical release perhaps? Hopefully then they'll include more supplemental materials for the trilogy set.

I heard that there will be some really cool extra "featuettes" as bonus material, if they use what they have in the can ready to go. Those of you that have been here a while or are search savvy might be able to bump the thread that gives the clues.

There is some footage "behind the scene" that can be very nice to find
-with the Mad Max 1 BR : the images we can see in Not Quite Hollywood...
-with MM2 we all know the little featurette
-with MM3 there are several documentaries...

That all would hopefully be a given to be included (it would be sad if they were not). I was meaning the newly filmed featurettes that are roumored to have been shot by the producers who popped up on the forum a few years back to get some replica owners invloved. That is about as much as I can say for sure.

When will they release the cut scenes for last two movies? I've read that RoadWarrior has a very different beginning and that Thunderdome has many filmed cut scenes....There was a supposed 2 disc dvd set for The Road Warrior that never came....i wonder if they'll eventually release these new scenes...

There weren't that many cut scenes in both of those movies really. The different beginning to Road Warrior you heard of was never filmed and is only present in the early version of the script (namely, Max stumbles upon marauders killing a family and hanging them on a tree, they spot Max and chase after him. Only 3 of the fastest marauder vehicles can catch up with Max, and those are Wez, Landau and a Dune Buggy).

As far as Thunderdome there were some scenes that were cut. The entire Cow Car stunt was cut because it was too over the top, the car went flying like a space shuttle. There are also a couple of alternative shots which were used in the trailers (like one of the imperial guards falling from Auntie's tower, booted by Max no less).

I think it's quite probable that the Blu Ray of Thunderdome might have those extra/alternative scenes for an extended cut. As for Road Warrior, I wouldn't be so optimistic. Seems like everything that was supposed to be filmed was indeed filmed, and if you're familiar with the early draft of the script you might notice a couple of its traces in the movie. For example, the final chase scene in RW called for Max to chase Humungus in the Lone Wolf and shooting him in the head with Wez's arm crossbow. That's why in the closing shot you see Max next to the Lone Wolf, although in the movie that vehicle was left way way behind.

About the blu-ray collection:

1- hopefully Mad Max 1 has been given a new 4k transfer. Or a proper restoration, because I strongly suspect WARNER already did a 4k scan in the past.

2- lossless audio for Road Warrior. I would like to know more about the cut dialogues...

3- a great transfer for Thunderdome. Deleted scenes included.

I'm sick with the flu. Gonna do a Mad MAX trilogy of my own and watch all 3 dvds back to back.
