I don't think anyone anywhere would ever call Mad Max 2 even remotely realistic. It's not supposed to be, and that's why it's so great.

Ok, then again, point out exactly which stunts you think are not real....

Having watched it a few times, I'll remark that it's a lot of quick scenes, shaky cam, and just one big explosion after the next bigger explosion... more, and more, and more pessimistic about this...

0:38 - dude with two spears jumping from semi onto spiked car followed by explosion. Fake.
0:56 - driving into huge sandstorm. Obvious fake. I've been in huge sandstorms. While they are sometimes big walls like this, it's just too fake.
1:05 - silver truck jump is probably fake, and the guy standing on the side of the truck is fake
1:07 - two cars exploding and flipping are probably fakes or at least have added CGI
1:27 - high speed spinning vehicle with two people on it, appears to be fake and CGI added people
1:34 - people being driven over appears to be fake CGI (can't tell because of the other complaint of shaky cam and quick shots)
1:44 - Max dangling on pole in front of semi- appears fake
1:45 - huge explosion engulfing several vehicles is embellished by CGI
1:56 - the big collision with 4 people flying all around is obviously fake
2:01 - the vehicle is 50 feet in the air flying around in a storm, there's lightning and perhaps a tornado... good grief. It's like a 10 year old made this scene...
2:08 - a marauder flying through a storm and flipping over and hitting the car at high speed

So, that's just from a 2:30 minute trailer... we learned nothing of the story, no acting. Just one big adrenaline rush of visual motion, explosions followed by more explosions...

I can tell that I'm going to be very disappointed by this film. Too much money spent to "buy" a good movie, just like the other franchises that flopped (Aliens, Terminator, Indiana Jones, Predator, etc.). The more money spent, the worse the films got.

The rumors I've read here are that the movie has big problems both with the film and management/producers and the film has once again been delayed and more money poured into it to fix these issues. The trailer now says "Summer 2015" so has it been once again pushed back from the March release date? Appears so. Rumor is also that they are now into this for $250,000,000 US. Good grief. It will ultimately make money, but it may take some time. According to this list, only 85 films have exceeded $250M at the box office. And to really start making money you've got to get into the Star Wars, superheroes, Forest Gump, LOTR, Transformers, and Avatar territory. Those films all had 1 thing this doesn't have - kid appeal. Not sure this is going to be that widely received...

Mad Max was made for $100,000 and is one of the top grossing films (percentage) of all time. It had two modest explosions and a bunch of real crashes, and a great story and acting. No firey car crash explosions except when NR hits the gas tanker. RW was more expensive and made a pile of money too, I think it was something like a 5-fold return on investment. I recall 2 firey explosions in that film too, and zero cars exploding during car crashes. Not even the semi at the end. It is interesting to note that with the obvious exception of the NR crash, none of the cars in MM, RW, or BT that I recall resulted in massive fake-looking firey explosions. These movies stand the test of time. I'd much prefer something raw like that, than to just watch frantic chases and explosions for 90 minutes. Seems Fury Road is just going to lack honest substance. Apparently it's like the TV shows of the 1980s where every time a car hits a speed bump it detonates into a massive firey explosion that engulfs it and two other cars nearby... good grief. Suddenly in FR every car in the chase is carrying TNT that just self-denotes into one more impressive explosion after the next, bigger and more impressive explosion...I get the feeling the FR folks were at a loss of what to do, so to cover that up with flash and bling they just made the most intensely crazy film possible, literally throwing insane people, vehicles, sandstorms, lightning, explosions, tornadoes, and the kitchen sink into the mix... That to me feels like an attempt to hide real blemishes in the movie.

Let's face it, the movie looks like a Lucasfilm project.

Here's a good read if you think any post apocalyptic movie is realistic.

Now on topic. I saw the trailer before American Sniper and I have to say it looks amazing on the big screen. The visuals are mind blowing, Story? Looks simple person has something someone wants and they chase them. I've got to admit though the 2nd trailer didn't do it for me as much as the first. I like what I saw but the music still seemed off in comparison to the action.

I agree.
The music in the 2nd trailer (which is officially the 1st trailer btw) gave the whole thing a bit of a 'circus' vibe along with Hoult's delivery. They're definitely going for 'crazy' with that trailer, not sure about the movie itself because it's not out yet, but if that's the direction they're taking - sure, why not? It seems to fit with McCarthy's style. Everything beyond that is speculation, and honestly - I wouldn't be surprised if they changed the tone in the next trailer. I still think the Comic Con trailer is better.

BTW, not sure if you've noticed but the Avengers 2 trailer totally rips off the style of FR trailer (mellow music & action scenes w/dialogue in the first part + picking up the pace for the 2nd part). I guess that formula worked.

Given that very few people have seen the finished Fury Road movie, I find all this endless speculation - which has now become a semi-backlash, based on two trailers -- pretty silly.
I thought the first trailer was brilliant, one of the best teasers I've ever seen in over 20 years of movie-going. The second trailer was very good too, cut as a bit more mainstream I'd say, in order to appeal to a wider audience. With George Miller at the helm, I have a lot of confidence that this movie will deliver. It looks highly original, and crazy-great, and different enough to the older trilogy.
Immortan Joe looks to be as good a villain as Toecutter, Wez/Humungus and Aunty Entity/Master Blaster. I am absolutely stoked about seeing this film and I'm looking forward to going along on the ride that George Miller and his creative team have created for us. I have a good feeling about this new instalment of Mad Max... and the new 'old style' vehicles look really cool too.
I'm not sure if Tom Hardy will fill Mel Gibson's shoes, but I'm open to seeing him grow into the role and bring a new energy to the mythology.

Hurry on May 2015!

All I see is "WAA WAA WAA WAA", what were you expecting? It's Hollywood!

Can't people just be thankful that they MADE a new movie?

If it looks shit, don't watch it.
