Is the baked-on enamel paint the same codes as the real car, or is it a scanned close approximation of the production colour?

The reason I ask, is that my buddy is building a dune buggy, and he wants to paint it Ford AU's FPV Citric Acid (yellow/green). We can't get the proper code from OZ because they use a different type of paint and there's no translation to US PPG paint. I'm thinking of taking my 1:18 Citric Acid BAGT model down and have them scan it and mix it up for him.

The wheels look great!.

Popped the wheels off my XB last night. Broke a front spindle in the process.Image Guess now I'll have to make another. And the stupid little brake pads held on by a fiber of plastic came off as well.

And what's with the flimsy, brittle plastic parts? It's a heavy car... you'd think they'd use metal or a more flexible plastic to support the metal body.

That's a bummer! Luckily it hasn't happened on the XB's.

Are you going to flip the spindles to make her sit a little lower? One other idea I've heard of for removing wheels, is the use of a window winder crank remover...the tool that pops the "Omega" clip from the spline. Put it on either side of the spindle and pull on the tire...don't know if it works or not.

Also, if you look at any of the XA/B/C race cars in 1:18th, the rear wheels are mounted on dropped spindles to get them to sit lower...chee--zeee. If they weren't $400.ooUS each, I'd consider making it right, complete with four-bar linkages like the real car.

Looking forward to seeing them! Thanks.

I might, but I'll have to repair the front spindle first. My wheel set has lower profile front tires, so that may be enough to lower the front.

I'm still working on the custom plastic bushings to mate my wheel set up to the Biante spindles. When I have them, I'll send you four pieces.

Draknoir: Have you cast any parts in aluminum for a 1:1 scale model...like a modified XA taillight housing? Just curious...

That would require a higher temp furnace and a different casting process. I'm limited to small scale parts in low temp alloys like pewter and zinc.

I'd like to get into aluminum and bronze casting, but the equipment is a bit outside my budget at the moment.

Drak, I'll drop a some of these in the return mail. My way of saying thanx for the wheels. They are 1:18, I believe they are for the 3 3/4" GI Joes.

Anyone else interested? I'd be more than happy to drop them in the mail. I got them from this guy on eBay http://stores.ebay.com/Marauder-Gun-Runners who sells them by the dozen. He also has 55 gal drums, fire extinguishers, all sorts of weapons, and some of these too.

I got the wheels yesterday, and want to put out a public "WELL DONE!" I was impressed by the professional packaging as well. I put the GMP tires on, and they're perfect. Also, leaving the back piece silver looks like the disc rotors...just add the caliper between the back and the spokes.

THANKS!

Chase... you didn't have to do that. Thanks. UPS Tracking says your package is scheduled for delivery Monday, so keep an eye out for it.

Madmanx... you should have them by now! UPS says it was delivered the same day Bronze got his. It's a small, flat box... 7" x 5" x 1".

Bronze.. I'm glad they worked out. I left the back part bare metal for that very reason.

I can't believe it took me the better part of a month just to come up with a wheel set for the conversion. What have I gotten myself into?!!! :)

"What have I gotten myself into?" HAHAHA...and your project is 1:18th of my headaches. I think 1:1 scale stuff is sometimes easier to deal with, but mistakes are more noticable. That same question was also posed after the screw-ups that occurred with the MFP jacket number plates.
