Thank you. I was able to watch the video at the link Mad Maximus provided.

I can understand that view, but I look at it like this: There is a different actor for Max; face is different but the character is the same. We know that THE BoB will not be reprising it's role so they bring in a different car; face is different but the character is the same. After all it is the car that is the star of the film, always has been. The car is a one of a kind destroyed in MM2. The idea that he finds another one just like it is way to cheesy. It reduces what makes it special. Between MM and MM2 is the story of how it became known as the legendary "Last of the V-8 Interceptors" and transforms into the Road Warrior.

I tried out the Sky News link this morning, and it's not functional for me any more either - it looks like they've taken that video down already. Odd. I can't find it elsewhere on their site through searching either. If anyone locates it somewhere else on the Sky News site, please let me know the new (functional) link.

I'll add the flicksnews link on the main page later today (thanks Mad Maximus!). I've also got the original video here - I wasn't going to bother reposting / rehashing this stuff when all the news sites were carrying it themselves, but if they go offline I could look at reposting them to YouTube for reference if anyone has missed them. I've noted that a couple of the stories have already been posted to YouTube as well, I'll post those links to the main page too as soon as time allows.

For anyone looking for Mad Maximus' flicknews link:

The Feral Kid, now leader of the Great northern tribe rebuilds it as a tribute to the man who made it possible them escape to the north. A man called Max.
For years the locals worship and rebuild the car, in memory of their escape.
Suddenly the Great Northern tribe gets attacked.
A new road warrior emerges from the tribe to fight off the marauders using the CBOB (cloned Black on Black)

Scene 1
Campfire, surrounded by 70 or so people or all ages including children.
Elder speaks with a raspy voice
Elder: Tonight, as we do every year, we take time to remember those of our tribe who fell along the way to make it possible for us to escape here to the North.
We remember Papagallo
All: We remember
Elder: We remember Simone and Josh
All: We remember
Elder: We remember Clunk, Ingrid and Marty
All: We remember
Elder:We remember Kelly, Clive, Suzie and Joe
All: We remember
And we remember the Road Warrior called Max
All: We remember
Elder (slowly rising): Tonight is special. Tonight, on the eve of our rememberance, we unveil our homage to our hero Max. Finally, after 2 decades of scrounging, rebuilding and hardships, we have rebuilt an Interceptor so that future generations of our tribe shall remember the roar of an engine that killed the old world and gave birth to the new.

SFX:deep bellow of an Engine roars to life.
Children grab their mother in fear of the roar

Elder: This is the car that brought us salvation in the form of the Warrior called Max

The CBOB rolls out of the shadows. It looks different, more ruggard, more muscular and rougher than we remember
The crowd applaudes and cheers

Elder: Every year at this time we shall spare some of our precious fuel reserves to drive the car around the outlying settlements, those people that sought refuge with us, so that they too shall remember and know of the past and remember not just with words, but with sight and sound!

Pretty much writes itself from there.....

Lessons learnt from THUNDERDOME.

Nothing will ever replace vehicle vrs vehicle combat in this series.
Its pretty obvious that Byron Kennedy educated Miller in "car culture" - which is pretty much how we all related to the first two films.

That was thrown by the wayside in the third film in favour of... pig-shit and scrappy kids.

I'm guessing FURY ROAD will be dedication to "car tribes" and "vehicular muscle".
As it should have alway been.

Hi long time lurker here, just seen the Fury Road cars and thought I'd feedback to the community.

What strikes me most about the new BoB is a concious decision has been made to make this car visually different from its last appearance in MM2. Given the fan support for building BoB replicas it would have been easy to build an exact replica. So something is different and I see four possibilities:

1) The film is set between MM1 & MM2 and for some reason Max fitted light grills temporarily
2) BoB has been rebuilt since the crash in MM2 and a new nose cone fabricated (the nose was indeed smashed prior to it's final crash)
3) Another BoB was built but slightly different
4) Some key elements of the original story are being ignored

There was clearly a substantial gap in time between MM1 and MM2, time in which Max heavily modified his Interceptor, it seems plausible that he could have replaced the nose cone glass with grills for some reason.

The idea that a tribe fleeing a baron desert would/could rebuild the BoB seems just too unlikely to me. I also find it too far fetched that during an apocalypse the car would become famous and some highly skilled mechanic would re-build it as a homage. Lets not forget that not only was it heavily damaged in the crash but it was also blown up by its own booby trap.

I also find the concept of another almost identical BoB hard to swallow. AFAIK the MFP persuit specials were cobbled together from a "p-piece from here a-and a p-piece from there" and the concept that a mechanic would have whipped up two near identical ones just in case seems absurd. Same goes for building a second to tempt him back to the MFP, BoB was created to keep in the force prior to his wife and child dying, his situation after was far more extreme, that's before even considering the communication issues in ever getting in contact with him.

I really hope that they aren't going to ignore key elements of the story, or worse 'reboot the brand' as Hollywood now really likes to do. My greatest fear is that this is a Mad Max for a new generation, where the cult status of the original films creates the sensation and publicity for a guaranteed box office success.

Regarding the "Last of the V8 Interceptors" comment I've always assumed that an 'Interceptor' was a class of a police car the MFP used, a class above the usual 'Pursuits' these were the fastest MFP cars around pre-war and became the last line of defence for cities. As we know this is what Max is driving at the start of MM1. I understand that BoB is a modified Interceptor, a one off black project within a department of the MFP. When the compound mechanic in MM2 looks around the car he quickly clocks it was once one of the police Interceptors (MFP insignia, police lights, Max's clothing etc) and imo would have assumed it was modified either by Max or someone else. His comment "Last of the V8 Interceptors" is just that, there were probably never many originally in existence even in original yellow MFP form and we know from the start of MM1 many police cars were getting crashed in action, or in some cases MFP Officers flipping to become vigilantes or gang members. I believe had the compound mechanic seen BoB even in MM1 he'd have commented "last of the V8 Interceptors" even then. I don't think the comment supports any conclusion that all the MFP Interceptors had been destroyed, just that they were a rare and special thing, given more legendary status to BoB.
"Wrong, we fight for a belief. I stay."

I agree with much of what you said, MWF, but I wanted to somment on one thing.
AFAIK the MFP persuit specials were cobbled together from a "p-piece from here a-and a p-piece from there" and the concept that a mechanic would have whipped up two near identical ones just in case seems absurd.
I think the mechanic was lying to Max (and Goose was in on it). Lubbatouche paid for the BoB with department funds, which would explain why it was in perfect condition. If it had been cobbled together, you'd expect it to be much rougher. In which case, the original source could have built more than one (not that I think they did).

It seems to me that there is a danger of jumping to conclusions about the timeline, casting and themes of Fury Road based soley on the two vehicles that were on display at the press release.

I have no knowlege of what is underway at KMM regarding vehicle design and construction however I do know that about a year back a member of this board was approached by KMM to hire his car for a launch which ... obviously ... didn't happen.

That said the BoB pictured is not one that I have ever seen. I did notice though that despite the FJ ute being on full display the BoB was only ever partially unveiled. There are any number of possible explainations including some sort of modifications to the rear that would give away some element of the film ... or that it was cobbled together for the launch ... or ...
