1/18th Custom Diecasts

Neat. Hey, I've gotta give you props on at least trying to sculpt the front bumper, the back one looks awesome! I wasn't as ambitious, I nabbed a cheap 57 Buick Roadmaster on ebay to harvest the front bumper for the Landau I'm planning. Gonna go with a '71 Torino as a base car. Just gotta finish up the XA now!

jelous! all the ones ive seen on ebay are from usa and like £45 up, i cant pay that for a cheapy made model, if it was sunstar or something half decent then fair enough. at a time when im out of work too, ive gotta look after what i spend. my mate should be able to do a good job, he can make some pretty cool stuff with milliput so..

i bought a 57 buick front bumper from modelhaus for mine (1/24 scale). never seen any 57 buicks in any scale.

I got one just like this ^, only mine is blue. The white paint at the bottom was all cracked, hence the bargain I got on it. I'm thinking I want to build the rest of the car into something post-apocalyptic somewhere down the line.

Oddly enough, the 59 Bonneville is also made in 1/18 for the Landau's rear bumper, but for the price, I doubt I'll be buying one just to steal one part from.

Funny though, this might be the ONE case where building a car in 1/18th is actually better for sourcing parts, lol.

Oh, and although life's been a major distraction from my models as of late, I'm still getting work in here and there on the XA. The hood, intake manifold and velocity stacks are my focus right now. Update with pictures coming soon!

Update, but it's not the XA...I'm calling my 57 chevy done. I finished modifying it by redesigning the pushbar, adding part of the frame and trailing arms from a NASCAR truck I had lying around to beef up what I felt was an inadequate setup on the rear suspension. I also added a driveshaft. The motor got spark plug wires and I painted and re-installed the interior. I also detailed it a bit. Finally I weathered everything. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Sweet job on the Chevy. The only thing that gives away you're working with diecasts are the mounting holes that held the car in the package and the hinges.

you know i love it mate, looks awesome. trailed around 3 car boot sales yesterday looking for some diecasts and there wasnt one! pain in the ass lol.

Lol, that's why I generally display my models rightside-up with the doors closed. I may dremel those screwholes sometime in the future, though.
