Ladies & Gentlemen.
The accommodation for Silverton has just been simplified. We have secured the former courthouse.
If you want to stay at the 'Halls of justice' in the wasteland, you can pay $20 per night.
On a side note: For those wanting to stay at Penrose park, you will need to book in individually.
If you are undecided, here are some considerations:
*Penrose Park is not close to the centre of Silverton, infact you could say that it is just out of town. If you want to walk in to the pub to have a meal and drinks it is a 2km walk if you follow the road (4km if you walk home again)
*There is a short cut which is still 1km but it takes you through scrub and a creek bed which can flash flood if they have rain. Also being the outback, it is popular with snakes at night as it is cooler than the high ground. There is no lighting to assist you, add some alcohol to the equation, and your dream trip could finish up at Broken Hill hospital with a broken whatever.
*The park can be a bit of a dustbowl when its dry too.
* The Courthouse building is spitting distance from the pub.
* Its a solid brick building which has now been reserved for the week.
* There are enough beds to sleep 52 people in the 7 bedrooms
* It has a fenced yard with a lockable gate which we will secure each evening after parking all the vehicles.
* There are male/female showers, a large communal kitchen complete with sinks, fridges, stove & microwave, a gas BBQ, a central hall with seating and tables for meals and entertaining.
* There is also room to work on cars if need be.
* All of our gear can be locked in the building during the day.
* We wont receive complaints from other guests regarding noisy engines.
* There is room also out the back for camping if you so desire.
* The hall sleeps a further 20 people if we run out of beds.
