Cheers Brownie.

mack tanker, let me finish off the whole thing and we'll see what it turns out like.

Desloc, yeah the original paint and striping is under there somewhere but i'd need to scrape away a few layers to get to it! Now then, the right rear flare..... would the crack be looked upon as movie correct or just poor workmanship?LoL ;) best not go there!

Nelson, just let me know when your ready to make the trip and get some dirt on that car of yours!

Adi,did you apply the dirt yourself or did you do a few 360's in the mud on day out there?I tried to go for the'Mad Max' look in my truck in some nice South Florida muck but ended up looking like I drove through a huge steaming pile of elephant shit

Nah never use mud Bart !!

Just keep driving in dirt roads!
Adrian uses a special mix of real broken hill dirt and a spray bottle I believe... lol

Adrian.

I'm gob-smacked

Great pix and story, and don't you ever worry about posting too many photos, you're amongst friends here and we all just lap this sort of stuff up. At least I do, I can't get enough of seeing pix like these.

Really glad you're actually doing something while there in Oz rather than just sitting on your front porch in a rocking chair dreaming about one day doing it.

And a very happy new year to you too.

Biker.

PS In that last close up of the back offside wheel, there's a speck of dirt in approximately the 2 o'clock position that seems out of place from what you can clearly see in the movie. Please correct this apparently obvious non-movie correct addition. Other than that it looks purty good. Thank you.

Cheers Biker, and would it be acceptable to photo shop that speck of dirt into the correct position as I'd rather not want to travel all the way back there just yet to re-shoot that scene more accurately?! LoL
and Happy New Year to you too.

There is a story behind the 'dirt',when I had the car up there last year I did a few dirt burnouts and what not to get the authentic look on the car which was achieved, unfortunately that night they had the worst rains in 7 years in Broken Hill and so the 'dirt' was gone in the morning, not having time to get the car dirty again I gathered up a large bag of the precious red dirt and it was applied in a similar manner to how Sam explains it but after this visit the car is now REALLY dirty including the interior which is now 'red',it doesn't take long driving out there before the dirt settles on a car but where it caught the most was on the track out to the creek,as you pass through several creek beds the fine silt type dirt bellows in the air like thick smoke and settles in every nook and cranny imaginable,so what you see on the car now is a natural application so to speak.

Ya, that stuff is more worth than pixie dust!

The last picture is really amazing, like the car is grown up there.
What's better to watch than some wildlife in it's natural habitat?
