If I remember right it started life as a 71' Lincoln, George Barris design. To make the sound of the car they used 3 recordings similtaneously- idle, high reving, and actual RPMs- to give it an evil/mean sound.
The first film car I wanted to replicate...even before the Mach 5.
Did you see the episode of Futurama where Bender turns into "The Car"?

You know what,The Lincoln from the movie'THE CAR'would be right at home with the other cars in Mad max 2'The Road Warrior'just imagine some skull painted on its doors and maybe a flame thrower on the front bumper
No.1 HELL RAISER on the MAD MAX Movies forum for over 10 years now !
All things said and done with other movies. but id love to see a re-make of Convoy or BJ and the Bear. When i was living Florida i seen the show 18 wheels of fury with that KW T2000, but it wasnt the same.....
Ah, Billie Joe McKay, Bear and his KW COE Aerodyne with matching paint trailer. I had the snap-tite model of the tractor with Bear sitting on the doghouse at one time, and still have the 1:25 scale glue type kit.
The KW T2K is down-right stylistically-challenged IMO.
Another one that would make a good movie is Movin' On with Sunny Pruitt and his conventional KW painted green, black and white. I think the whole "Golden Age" of semi's, truckers and the open road have unfortunately gone the way of "The Old West." Now everything is flash, bling and oonza-oonza in cars and car movies.
Convoy was filmed at the perfect time in history. Everything was getting regulated, appropriated and taxed by the ICC. Permits were needed for everything in the States during the early to mid seventies (through today). Trucker's were getting hit the hardest, and it was what a lot of the truckers wanted to see and do. Everything you've ever owned has been on a truck at one time or another, so who better to tax.
My dad was driving the big rigs at that time as well, and I remember him hacking about it when he was home on weekends. I remember hearing about Over-the-Road Use Tax, Fuel Tax, Plate fees for each state that he was appropriated in, heavy load permits etc etc. and that was back when wages were less than a dollar a mile. He also talked of running the scales to avoid the ICC scales and was running up to three log books...one that was actual times, one that he showed the ICC and the cops, and the one he showed his dispatcher. He handed the wrong one to the trooper one time and he gave it back asking for the "right" one to review at the new "Road-Side Inspection Stations." Oops.
Pukes of Hazzard, well Mad Max is GAY!!!!! and so am I cause I have nothing better to do but hide behind a 'user name' and try to start crap. I'm such a big HOMO !! Now I'm going back to watch reruns of Mr. Rogers neighbourhood
