My final beer is Young's Double Chocolate Stout.

This has the least beer taste of the 3 I tried this weekend. What is

odd is that the chocolate taste appears only after it leaves your

mouth and throat. It also seems to have more gas in it that the other

2.

I think I'll have to try the Newcastle again and see if keeping it in

the fridge affects the taste any(see my post from Feb.).

I didn't try any Wed, so I'll do a 2-fer Fri.

I re-tried the Newcastle Brown Ale, but this time chilled in the fridge. Like I said before, there isn't much of the "beer" taste. I didn't do the empty mouth swishing like before. It did go down smooth. It seemed to have more carbonation then I remembered. I did get the burp nose burn usually associated with drinking soda.

I typed up the following many hours ago.

Next is Fat Tire amber ale. It comes in a tall bottle. It tastes more beery than the Newcastle, but I guess that is to be expected of the American stuff. Doing the empty mouth swish yields some interesting flavors I can't put my finger on. I've done this more than once, and it seems I get different flavors each time.

Due to the fact I haven't had anything to eat since 5:30pm last night(it's 9:45 pm right now), and I'm not a frequent drinker(ONLY the times I've reported here), I'm actually feeling the effects from this 650 mL of beer. I'm a big guy too.

How much is in a pint? I looked at 3 different bottles, and they have 3 different numbers.

First for today is Samuel Smith's old brewerey pale ale. The bottle has fancy gold foil around the top that doesn't want to peel off. I just cut around the cap and then open the bottle. This has a prominent beer taste. The empty mouth swish just gives beer taste and maybe something else. I give this a thumbs down. It's from England, but tastes American.

I'll post the next one later, and the last after that.

Now it's Samuel Smith's India ale. It seems identical to the other Sam Smith. I had a

feeling I knew what the something else in the empty mouth taste was above, and this one

confirms it. It is almost medicine-y.

I guess for next time I'll skip the Samuel Smith's nut brown ale.

Finally is Fischer ale from France. I was drawn in by the bottle, which has the fancy top

like the Grolsch, but is a bit taller, a bit fatter, and brown. Sacre bleu! There is barely

a beer smell, and the beer taste is almost non-existant! The empty mouth test didn't really

offer anything. There was some kind of taste when actually drinking it. It's no surprise

that it's the most expensive of all I've tried, which really sucks. It has a 6% alcohol

volume, which I seem to really feel since I haven't eaten for maybe 15 hours. :)

I know Foster's is considered a poser beer, but what's the deal with Foster's Bitter? The

bitter designation makes me think it would taste really beery. That is unless the bitter

taste overcomes that.

Speaking of poser beers, do Heineken and St Pauli Girl fall in this category? I'm tempted to get the Heineken keg-can due to it's novelty value.

I was hoping to give a new report now or later, but my bad luck strikes again. I have a rental car, and only want to use it to go from home to back where I need to go. I don't feel like going into details now.

Suffice to say, my nerves are rather shot. I'll see how I feel tomorrow. I might buy 1(or 2 if we're lucky) beers to review.
