Yes, people are raped in Mad Max, but
it's not Max himself doing the raping.
You seriously can't understand how showing a movie's hero engage in an act of cruelty sends a very different message from showing a villain engage in an act of cruelty?
And pointing out that the victim is a CGI character is completely missing the point, unless you believe the women raped in Mad Max films were actually raped in real life during the shooting of those scenes.
Yeah... I try to avoid talking to nutjobs in real life as well as the internet. Maybe you should avoid violent movies if it upsets you so much then lecturing to the wrong crowd. I'm done with you.
First of all, somebody else here said that in the extended trailer, Max eats the lizard, thus rendering this entire conversation moot, because if he's killing it for food, instead of just killing it to be a tough guy, then nobody who's not a vegetarian could possibly have an issue with it.
Now then, you think objecting to a cinematic glorification of violence against animals makes a person a nutjob? Wow, that's really sad.
You say I'm lecturing the wrong crowd? So, in other words, I am wrong to assume that the Mad Max fan community contains people who are ethical? Again, how sad.
Lastly, even if you take away the ethical concerns regarding whether this movie is glorifying violence against animals, what about the simple desire of a fan to see a character he's very invested in portrayed as a decent human being?
If the next Star Wars film depicted Han Solo or Princess Leia as sadists who kill animals for no good reason, you'd better believe Disney would have an angry fan revolt on its hands. Why should I, as a Mad Max fan, be any different?
