There's not even an IMDB listing for New Gods at the mo. There's been no press release saying the movie is happening, I've read nothing official. It's not listed on George's IMDB page. If it has no listing there, the movie is not happening already!

On his own filmmaking plans, Miller is guarded about whether his next project would be a planned smaller film or two more Mad Max instalments.

"I've got two or three things," he says. "One of them is small and the others are bigger."

Ben Affleck has stepped away from helming "The Batman" for WB and Forbes has heard a rumor that George Miller is on the shortlist to direct.
Several names are floating around already as being in contention for the director's chair, including Matt Reeves, Gavin O’Connor, Denis Villeneuve, Matt Ross, and perennial favorite George Miller

In an opinion piece, someone at WhatCulture went to great lengths to explain why Miller MUST replace Affleck.

Nothing new, but at least he isn't hinting at retirement in this latest interview.
Miller insists before he tackles another Mad Max movie that he will make something “quick and small just to reboot the brain”, claiming he has two stories that fit the bill. But after the enthusiasm that greeted Fury Road, it’s hard to believe he won’t return to the Wasteland next. “I’m hard-wired for the imaginative life,” he says. “It’s part of who I am. These characters and these worlds tend to swirl around in the back of your brain like imaginary friends. It’s easy to go back to them.”

And so, 2 years after the release of Fury Road and hardly a peep from anyone about what Miller's next movie will be. At this pace I'll be a senior citizen when it's released. :x

Truth be told, I'm starting to doubt Miller will direct the next Mad Max movie. He's 72 now. Was 68 when he was filming Fury Road and to my knowledge he wouldn't have directed it if it weren't for a huge array of people keeping everything in check.
I really don't want to take anything from Miller's skill and vision as a wonderful director but this age comes with problems. He did suffer a heart attack on set and had to have emergency surgery. After he came back he was pretty out of it and thanks to 2nd unit director, producers and a ton of other people who had to remind him where goes what the movie ultimately got made. Fury Road was very taxing on him and it's noticeable in 2015 interviews when he's asked when he's going to do another one.

Time is ruthless and given the difficulties he had making Fury Road I highly doubt he will personally direct the next movie. He might be there assisting the production, overlooking it but not so much personally getting involved as much. At least that's the impression I got from talking to a lot of folks. It would be a perfect occasion to pass on this franchise to someone equally talented, with 2 scripts already done. They just need someone with a deep understanding of the characters and how those movies work, because otherwise things might go off the rails really quick making those movies no different from run-of-the-mill post apocalyptic copycats we've all seen before.

"George Miller doesn't know what he's doing"

He's gone ridley scott on us?

The older I get the more it seems to me that it happens to everybody
How many of his peers from that late 70's-early 80's little golden era are still capable of pulling off the tricks that they used to when they were young any more

They dont teach you that in school
Its just the way it is

Sooo....DC's 'New Gods' won't be made by Miller. Not surprised.
