I think the sequel will concentrate more on Max' journey and his wandering through the Wasteland. Maybe he finds a new canine sidekick..?
I would appreciate some kind of a vigilante/revenge storyline in the new movie, like 'A Fistful of Dollars' where Eastwood strikes back at the end.
George Miller is smart and I'm pretty sure he will surprise the audience once again with completely new stuff and characters.
Oh and...you don't have to worry guys, this morning I talked to my dear friend George via Skype and he confirmed that Furiosa won't be in it

As for the length of a story, there's quite a few examples in literature where covering a long period of time has been done well, though I'm struggling to think of many good examples in film (for some reason Marley and Me is the first that pops into my head) ... perhaps having a story that's more than a snapshot in time would bring a new angle to MM. I'd very much like to see the "legend of Max" style of stories expanded, and something like a quest would be ideal for that.

Now this one I could imaging popping up a bit more often.
Overall though, any negative comments about the movie, even just someone saying they didn't like it, are like a single drop in an ocean of positive comments.

How many times did you see it in the theater ? Maybe it was the first shock seeing a Mad Max movie after a long period of 30 years...
I saw Road Warrior in 1982 on its original theatrical run too. The difference is, my girlfriend from the past disappeared somehow...
A few months later a had the chance to see MM1 in the theater. When I think of it today, it was very unusual but I think the cinema owner at that time
was a Mad Max fan too Both films are my alltime favourites.
About Thunderdome normally I don't waste any words, it was simply one of the most disappointing movie experiences I had in my life.
As I said, you have to watch it again !
I saw Mad Max when it came out in the U.S.. I didn't know what to make of it - an awkwardly dubbed, strangely off kilter film. It was just so damned cool because of that. Still is, but now we have the original Aussie dialog. I was in high school at the time.
Thunderdome pandered to 80's American pop culture, like a PG-rated homage to MM2, complete with hit theme song.
Yeah, I'll probably give FR a couple more watches. I'm a Metallica fan and I hated And Justice For All the first time I heard it. A lot of listens later I thought it was some of their best work. We'll see.
A bit off topic but just on And Justice For All, Ive tried over the past 27 (!!!) years to get into that album and I still can't. The tinny drums, the dry guitars, over repetition in the tracks and the sheer lack of bass guitar as a viable presence just kill it for me. Having said that it did follow 2 extraordinary albums in Ride The Lightning & Master Of Puppets and the untimely death of Cliff Burton so there were mitigating circumstances. Just as a (failed) bass player I really hate it. Jason Newsted was hired based on a phenomenal bass performance with Flotsam & Jetsam on their Doomsday For The Deceiver album...and then was left almost absent in the AJFA mix. Even odder is the Black album that came out 3 years after AJFA was probably at the time, and maybe still, sonically the best metal album ever produced. Metallica are a very, very hard band to follow. I used to be a big fanboy but the sparsity of decent material in recent years has worn me down!
Back to Max, I think its healthy that people are raising valid criticisms where appropriate. And that they feel comfortable to do so. There's nothing worse than just blind, ott praise with no critical views allowed.

Nobody has. And if someone did then who cares? An opinion about a fictional character in a science fiction movie never warrants being labeled a misogynist or racist or have any reason at all to hear a lecture about "equality". It's literally crazy. Unfortunately is rarely called out because more people are afraid of being targeted by them. If you're someone who is ok with that take a moment and look in the mirror. The person looking back is the problem.
Several people have asserted it, backed with long lists about how he was trying to rebuild society ... and I'm afraid that if someone says that Furiosa (for example) dominated Fury Road over Max, then it's a pretty good indicator that the way they think is well entrenched in misogyny given the screen time given to each in the film was on a par with each other.
