Always worth keeping in mind that there are plenty of artists known for a certain style that take on a movie score to try something different and experimental.
Oh yeah it had to be a temp score. Junkie has only been working on the score for a few weeks now. Prior to this he was working from his home studios to come up with ideas before heading to Sydney to record the score.

Coolness. Now if we can find the beginning track to the trailer...
The first half of the trailer, with the vocals, is a trippy cover of the Cat Stevens song "Wild World" by a group called Confidential Music. They apparently specialize in music for trailers and commercials.

I just saw this - https://soundcloud.com/watertowermusic/madmax_escape

Man, the music is totally fitting with Mad Max, although a blend of orchestral stuff with strings and the like. It's also kind of unsettling.

Two third of the music is great. Some of the rest like My name is Max or Let them up sounds like Maurice Jarre's Mad Max 3 crap soundtrack.

I'm worried the movie will be two thirds astonishing action, and one third Thunderdome Kids like corn syrup

While I would argue any style of music can be on a soundtrack for any movie providing it fits the tone of the film, I'd definitely prefer classical music to be the predominant style for Fury Road. Minor hints of electronica could also work well if done correctly, kind of like was used in the first trailer - I particularly like that warbly/echoey section when the Interceptor flips over...that actually pulled me in right away and made me want to see and hear more.
