If you take the Triumph engine out of a Triumph car and replace it with 6,000 Duracell AAA batteries, would that same car still be able to be called a Triumph? or a Duracell/Triumph??

Placing in 6,000 non-rechargable duracell batteries would not only be a waste of money, but it would be far too complicated to manage that many individual cells.





Of course it could still be called a Triumph. It still would have the body, transmission, differential, chassis, and all the basic components. People that put Rover V8s and Chevy smallblocks into these cars or gut the poorly built Lucas wiring system still call them Triumphs.





She's going to be very fun to drive when finished. With the 1,000 amp setup, 0-60 may end up on par with a Porsche boxter, which is quick but still tame, but 0-40 mph would be on par with a Viper or Vette. Nothing like having peak torque at 0 rpm, with practically no delay in throttle response. A modern gas car, you still need to wait about 1/10th of a second for throttle response due to limitations on how fast fuel can be fed and burned, but electrons travel near the speed of light. I'll have to be careful not to strip my gears or even rip the differential straight out of the car, not to mention how easy it would be to ruin my tires, all thanks to that low end torque and a lead foot...

Toecutter yer Triumph is a rare one,i haven't seen one of those in a while and yours seems in good shape.

i know someone with a twin turbo GTI pushing over 700 horses..if that aint a monster than i dont know what is....

i love seeing some redneck at the track with his tough chevelle get schooled by some rice burner....dont get me wrong,i love good old american muscle but its sad when they are beaten by a dodge omni with a turbo...

Are there any GLH or GHLS Omni's left running?





Only good for about 10K miles before the Turbo goes bad and 30K before the head cracks.


Son of my neighbor had one for many years.


Clocked Low 14s down the quarter but he had to replace the turbo at 4 times and the head 6 in the ten years he had it.





Avoid ANYTHING made by Mitsubishi before 2000.


(Yes, that 2.2 in that Omni is a Mitsu)





Yeah, you can make a lot of power with a 4 or 6 cylinder motor, but it costs a lot more money and you sacrifice durability when you do.





V-8's are cheaper to build for power and last longer under abouse, but they turn around and slow the car down with all that WEIGHT!





Someone needs to build 200 pound V-8 engines to fit Fords, Chevy's, AMC's & Mopars. And Build 'em at a comperable price to an Iron block.
