There is a super short "Making Of" piece on the Japan release VHS SE.
I think.....
maybe they should hook up with the "Back to the Max" guys for some awesome doco footage?
I saw it. This 6 minute piece on the making of the stunts in RW is on the VHS copy of Road Warrior "special addition" released in the US. It wasn't bad.
I,m not saying that I know this scene was filmed, I'm only passing on info that I have read on this site and IMDB. For all I know the guy that put the post on IMDB about his mate who talked to Vernon Well's could be talking bollocks or making it up.Personally I hope not as I love the opening of Mad Max 2 and any more would be great, also it would mean some more footage of The Black-on-Black.
i always liked the scene in the script where, after MAX fights with PAPAGALLO, in order to get out of the compund, he has to set up a bridge of broken cars or something, to get across the moat. And before he leaves he tells FERAL KID to not get to close to anyone, and never really love anyone, cause it only hurts when they die.
I have a shooting script for Max 2 (i.e. the one they filmed from, dated May 1981, not the ebay one), and I'm pretty sure the farmhouse scene isn't in it at that point, will have to double check. Have never been told of it being filmed either, or any other missing scenes of note for that matter (unlike Max 1, which by all accounts had HEAPS of extra scenes filmed which never made it to the final cut).
But, as pointed out, they do change their mind about what to film, and insert / remove stuff on set, so you never know what happened. A number of the truck stunts in Max 2 just came from talking with Dennis Williams about what he could do, or observing things that he did with the truck out on set. Will have to try and get some excerpts of the interviews with Dennis & Ralph Clark onto the site at some point (been meaning to for ages, just haven't had time).
yeah, practically the entire end Tanker chase, was made up as it went along, and to tell ya the truth, i think much better than the original ending in the script and novel.

f**kin A. and lets not forget poor ol' HUMUNGUS, betrayed by his first lieutenant
I remember that scene. It was realistic- not satisfying but realistic. In the script, Max gave chase to Wez. Max was driving Pappagallo's buggy and Wez was driving the vehicle that belonged to Humungus- the kid hanging upside down in front. The chase between them in the original ending was rather lame in my opinion. If that original climax was shot instead of the chase sequence that made the cut, the movie WOULD NOT have made #1 on my top ten list for 13 years.
your right, it woulda been kind of an awkward chase scene, i mean it took place straight across the desert, i think, not the highway, and MAX used BEARCLAW's gauntlett crossbow, to kill WEZ, it woulda been real anticlimatic, the TANKER just running out of Gas.
