She and Max were a pretty good team...just like Max and Gyro in MM2

My other problem was with the excessive list of characters, all potentially interesting but without any development. Never thought I'd be complaining about too much in a Mad Max movie, but too much.


One of my first dates with my girlfriend, now wife, was a Boy and his Dog/Road Warrior double feature back in '82. That's where I told her my son would be named Max. We had a girl first in '90, but 8 years later we had a Max. The three of us saw Fury Road together.

That's a pretty cool story about your family, I have to say. Even more so it is a real pity that you and your family couldn't enjoy the new movie as much as I did.
How many times did you see it in the theater ? Maybe it was the first shock seeing a Mad Max movie after a long period of 30 years...

I saw Road Warrior in 1982 on its original theatrical run too. The difference is, my girlfriend from the past disappeared somehow...
A few months later a had the chance to see MM1 in the theater. When I think of it today, it was very unusual but I think the cinema owner at that time
was a Mad Max fan too Both films are my alltime favourites.
About Thunderdome normally I don't waste any words, it was simply one of the most disappointing movie experiences I had in my life.

But speaking of character development in Fury Road, oh there's a ton. There are so many details, it's sheer impossible to get them all on the first view.
At least there are three fully fleshed out character arcs: of Furiosa, Max and Nux. And Max' development is not much as different as in Road Warrior.
It's amazing, even the Wives, each of them has its own backstory.

For instance here's a little example of The Dag:
when the group is in the desert together with the Vuvalini and they are talking about the Citadel The Dag mentions:
"It’s got everything you need. As long as you’re not afraid of heights."
And very interresting, in the last scene of the film when she is standing next to Furiosa on the lift you can see her biting on her nails (...)
You can see this particular scene only for one second but it shows you: yes indeed, SHE IS AFRAID OF HEIGHTS !

As I said, you have to watch it again !

Even if you're being sarcastic that's a pretty dishonest way to deflect from his opinion of Max not getting enough screen time in Fury Road (though I personally disagree with him). And it's not the first time I've seen this kind of language. You should be ashamed of yourself for going there.

As I said, you have to watch it again !

I saw Mad Max when it came out in the U.S.. I didn't know what to make of it - an awkwardly dubbed, strangely off kilter film. It was just so damned cool because of that. Still is, but now we have the original Aussie dialog. I was in high school at the time.

Thunderdome pandered to 80's American pop culture, like a PG-rated homage to MM2, complete with hit theme song.

Yeah, I'll probably give FR a couple more watches. I'm a Metallica fan and I hated And Justice For All the first time I heard it. A lot of listens later I thought it was some of their best work. We'll see.

Please, try to rise above comments you feel are low blows rather than dragging the conversation further downwards. You're making good points but burying them in emotional snarks and straw man arguments which misrepresent those you're debating.

You keep chastising members here for their criticisms and subjective opinions over Fury Road yet seem to fail to see your own consistent defence - which seems to consist of little more than claiming people's reasoning is nothing more than whining or hiding behind some greater social issue that holds back equality.

This isn't a snark tank so try and raise your game a little and encourage some healthy dialogue rather than trying to shut others down. You're clearly very smart and have valuable insight which typically hints at something deeper than the superficial. I respect the latter a great deal.

Everyone's point here is valid whether it follows consensus or otherwise.

If it's true that The Wasteland will take place over a year, then i wonder how will that play out. I can't think of any plot that spans around a year and then people would go back complaining about how the film has no plot. I'm personally fine with it though, just want to see Hardy as Max in more action ( Thunderdome plus anyone ?). Hopefully Furiousa isn't in this one, she's badass and all but i don't like her character that much. That scene where she screams in the desert looks great in the trailer but in the movie it made me cringe a bit, but that's just my opinion.

After watching the movie again and again, my complaint is there are some parts that made the film too dramatical. Again, that's my opinion. Still love FR so much.

I've been posting on this forum for 13 years. Typically when a person says something ridiculous and wrong just to troll they either own up to it or continue digging themselves deeper until they are removed by a mod. You keep doing it again and again and nothing really happens. Then you practically flaunt it with lame excuses like the above statement. Remember leadcounsel? I knew he would be dealt with or voluntarily leave out of humiliation. You're a different case. Because of this you have just earned a special place as the one and only person I ever put on ignore. 13 years and you are the first. Maybe I'll check in a few months and see if you changed.
