If the music is great, you can watch the movie again, and again and again, like when you play a record you like.
So true, imagine for example the fight scenes in the Rocky movies without that music...thought not :D

Or the opening battle in Gladiator without that almighty score...

I feel like with the first Mad Max, Brian May had a general idea but didn't execute it as he wanted it.
In The Road Warrior he made a truely amazing job at scoring using some elements from the first movie. The soundtrack to RW is great in itself but works so well with the scenes, like the slow and 'broken' main theme when Max was crawling across the outback after Wez got him. And the music right after the compound exploded and the chase was on - just got you straight into the mood and it had this 'running horses' vibe to it (seriously, listen to it and galloping horses come to mind).

On the other hand you can listen to the MMBT soundtrack and get why they made it so quirky and off-beat but the trade off is that it doesn't carry the movie as much as the RW OST. Except for that one scene where Max takes off on a head on collision with Ironbar Bassey - the combination of the roar of an engine and the music made it perfect right in that moment - props to the sound designer for that!

I'm so glad that JXL took inspiration from the RW for Fury Road and knowing how he's definitely a car guy (his second album was called Big Sounds of the Drags) I'm pretty sure he'll put his heart into it.

Oh and I almost forgot!

In the RW the music knew when to shut the hell up to make space for key elements of the movie that don't need to be accentuated by any kind of score. In the final chase scene the music cuts a couple of times to let us hear the roar of an engine or someone getting blasted in the face with a shotgun. I'm hoping it's going to be the same in Fury Road.

There is always the possibility that maybe George Miller is having a look at this forum occasionally to see what we die hard fans think of it. Just how we would like it to be. And maybe that will be taken in consideration. Having some influence ;) And I don't mean that for only the music.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

That did remind me of a stretched out part of 'End Title' from the RW OST, think of this sound over the original opening montage.

At least we now know a few of the films technical aspects.

Given the 9 week time frame, it would seem the movie will be more or less complete come October.
