Shifting into reverse to stop? Handbrakes? Seriously?

The Wheelhop when Max stopped the car was nothing more than hard braking.

Front tires had way too little contact patch to do anything but slide, and the rears were struggling for grip.

Experienced the same thing (To a lesser extent) in both my Javelin and my Baracuda.
Did actually hit reverse at 50 in the Javelin once, due to a lady friend accidentally kicking the shifter.
Yup. Broke reverse gear.

A guy on the outerlimits4x4 board claims he took a pic of the engine from a Mad Max 4 rat rod. I presume the heavy filtration is to prevent the desert dust from doing damage.

Other notable quotes from the thread. These were posted about a year ago.
Got a look at the new mad max car today......... Farking cool ford + chev +two very big turbos and Cooper stt's, would post pics but I like my job
I understand they wrote the twin engine one off this week though lol, the one i saw today is a rat rod
The twin engine one is the tracked machine. A mate of mine has done a heap of work on it.
The tracked car does produces over 1000hp though...Considering it has 2 V8's and was destroying gearboxes and clutches (which is where my mate came into the picture) id say the figure is about right. Torque output and stresses on the tracks is huge.
This may sound unbelievable but I have met the guy that built the new mad max cars and the old seats out of my sierra are in one of the cars

I was the service manager for a small dealership here in Sydney and my shop foreman at the time was the guys brother. He also built the bikes from hell rider and a few cars from the Matrix just to name a few.
All the bikes from hell rider (there are 7) have small Honda engines with big chrome covers to make them look like Harleys.
All the cars for mad max had to be built twice. As some of you would know they first started filming mad max over seas but after a few kidnap attempts and a few death threats on the actors they had to leave everything and rebuild all the cars here in Australia for the new set out near broken hill or where ever it is.

Tiny, I can't think of his name but his brothers name is Greg and he works at Autohaus VW in Thornliegh, The other brother is a Electrician.
word is they have dropped $42m into the movie and haven't got the green light on it yet that's and it's to green out there, there is talk of trucking in red dirt
This last quote is current (26/8/2011)
i got to meet the toe cutter today,
he was geting some work done on his g60 patrol.
he said he will be in the next mad max movie.
he looks the same but gray hair and a pony tail.
very nice bloke, i wish i had a camera

I'm just trying to make sense of the induction setup.
Turbos don't look to be feeding into the engine..

Same... or do they feed in after the supercharger?

I tried the same once in my xc coupe, slammed it in reverse at about 65 k's it broke the rotor button on the dizzy, guess i was lucky :) and also in a mk2 cortina with no handbrake used to slam it into 1st to lock up the rears...used to work untill the diff gave up.
The chain in those handcuffs is high-tensile steel, it'll take you ten minutes to hack through it with this, now if your lucky ? you can hack through your ankle in five minutes. Go !

Supercharger would have to feed into the Inlet for the turbos or the turbos would have to feed into the inlet for the Supercharger.

Looks to me that we have Airflow into the Aircleaner on top of the Carb, thru the Blower and into the engine.. Turbos are just for Show.

Unless I'm missing something.
