well, here's my 2 cents. I have just put a set of Performance Challengers on my car, 15x8 with 235's and 15x10's up back, with 295's. I wanted the period style of wheel for this type of car, but in saying that, there are a very few bigger diameter wheels that do look OK. I like the wheels on Reeds old car, i think its very tastefully done and I personally that style is a nice touch.

BRAD: What's the backspacing on your 15x8's? I just bought another set of 295/50/R15's for the back, and 245/60/R15's for the front (15x7's are 3.75" back-spaced) and need to know because I'm getting the "Sunraysia's" custom made. Cheers.

Jay, the fronts have a N9 offset, and the rears have a N25, so that means it sits toward the outside of the car more, actually, I wanted a neutral offset for the rears, but thats the only one it comes in. I now have to shorten the diff, or get another one a bit narrower as there is not enough room for it to clear. If the lips had been rolled it should have fit, some others can run these rim/tyre combo's, but after 33 years of the car never having them rolled, im not about to do it now.

I like those "Thug" rims.

Sort of a brutal, business-like aspect to them.

With exceptions, I've never been a fan of five-spoke wheels.

My Javelin still has the US Equivalent of Sunraysia rims

(15X10 rear & 15X7 Front)

Had traction problems even at that width rear tire, though.

So can you replace the fake lip screws with actual tire screws on the Thugs? They kinda remind me of the new-er Hot Wheels Collection that's out now.

I personally like 5, 8 and 10 spoke wheels if they look simple and correct for the application.

Those wheels are pretty much like the ones on my car and my mates dune buggy. They're different from the Sunraysias, as the holes are smaller, rounded and the insert is welded around the inside in four places, versus the eight, individual spokes being welded.

If anyone is looking for a set like those above, put in California, Wheels of Steel in the search bar and the site will come up. 15x8's with a custom backspace offset are $46.ooUS each, and the 15x10's with a 4.5-5" custom offset are $60.ooUS each (to suit fitment to an XA/XB/XC. I'm getting a new set and having them powdercoated gloss black. They come in raw steel, painted silver or black, or for a charge they can be chromed. A good US "Incorrector" counterpart to the $900.ooAU (or more) Sunraysia's.

They also have the centercaps that are pretty close for $4.ooUS each at Discount Tire Company if anyone elses are dented or rusting.
