The original "Italian Job"

Very good chase with real Minis thru Turin. There is a great car ballet in the extras on the DVD.

"The Moon Runners" is not bad either. It is the movie the Dukes of Hazard was based on.

There are also some Gator movies that Burt Reynolds did before he had hair, with some good , shine runner, chases in them.

I was wrong on one above. The 2CV was in For Your Eyes Only.

I liked the truck chase at the beginning of Beverly Hills Cop.

There is a movie called Return to Macon County that has a souped-up Chevy in it. It stars Don Johnson and Nick Nolte. It is a sequel to another movie which I think is called simply Macon County.

If anyone is a fan of "Running on empty"; here is what happened to that Dodge Challenger.

That Challenger almost made it back here to the States... mate of mine who I shipped a RHD Daytona (also briefly in R.O.E.) back here for nearly bought it... just bad timing dollar wise, oh well, would have been cool to have it cruising around here !

I'd have to disagree with you there Dirty.

Vehicles, like clothing, can be a personal statement as well as a functioning tool.

Some folks like the statement that a stock, original machine makes about them.

Others see their machine as a canvass on which to add their own expression.

I have some of each, for the record.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as they are driven occasionally and not just allowed to rot in a museum, then to each his own.

Unless it is your name on the pink slip, your opinion is just that.

No hard feelings, just a diferrence of opinion.Image

What about modified Aussie cars here in the US ? I have added rack and pinion and a 5 speed to my Charger.. and shortly will be mini-tubbing it. Once I get some other projects out of the way I have a EFI/Intercooled/Supercharger setup in the works for it...

I don't see anything in the least wrong with modifying a car.... the owner should make it the way THEY want it, not anyone else.

Can you post pictures of your Charger as you do the work? I would be interested in seeing your work in progress. Here are a couple of links to a bad ass Challenger. It has had several upgrades in the engine department since the Hotrod article. The link from the guy's website has some pictures of the current engine setup. Unless you are talking about something outrageously expensive like an original Hemi 'Cuda, I say modify all you want.

"Dyno Power Output: 1300HP/1017ft-lbs" --- not bad for those trips to the Dairy Queen!

"Ronin"

Starring Robert De Niro, a couple of good car chases in that one involving an Audi S8

ydx7, thanks. I knew there'd be a big Bond fan among us. I love all the old Connery & Moore Bond films, just have trouble putting the titles to the various action sequences. Love that Sherriff J.W.- what a character! "If y'all got your pointy little heads outta them pug-jammers, you wouldn't have no traffic problems!"
