If George Miller had as much input ( if any ) as we are led to believe , then it touches on Furiosa and the Citadel's demise at the end of the comics with the history man hinting sharing with the wretched was unsustainable (as Joe understood) .A furiosa prequel would have to be made soon to star Charlize . No offence to her stunning good looks or the magic of make up , but if in Fury Road it is 7000 days since she was a child , then she is supposed to be in her late 20's and for Charlize to play someone younger than that...especially in a few years from now is a bit of a stretch , And I'm a bit in the NO Charlize...No Furiosa camp .
I'm greedy also Gastanksian and would like a Max Prequel . Like most die hard fans I still wanted a Mad Max 1.5 before Fury Road was made and think in retrospect it would now be a good break in the current Fury Road timeline . This would make it more a stand alone film ( like the rest of them ) than outright sequel/prequel to Fury Road . The styling( even the timeline ) could meld MM1 and MM2 in the same way Fury road blends MMR and MMBTD . Is it just me , or does the shot in Fury Road were Max is holding Glory's Body show his leathers in MM2 ( or better ) condition ? Hope perhaps ?

It's kind of annoying that people who didn't like the comic books also think that they must have been written without Miller's supervision. Once and for all - it's not just Miller's name on the comic books, he did come up with those stories, he worked with co-writers on them and those are his creations. It's almost insulting to insinuate he was not present during the writing process and let the co-writers run rampant writing whatever they wanted and it somehow got published.
Also the part hinting at the Citadel's demise from from Furiosa's inability to distribute water is something Miller would totally do. That's because he does not create 2 dimensional characters that fall into some kind of a stereotype and stay there forever. This is something that a lot of people did not understand when they were talking about Immortan Joe. In their eyes Immortan was this mustache twirling evil cartoon character, but in reality he used to be a normal person that fell too far down the rabbit hole and doesn't see his wrong doings anymore, he's sincerely convinced he's doing good. That extra depth of character is what makes a better villain.
It was the same with all villains in the Mad Max world, I'm not going to go through all of them but the option of Furiosa bringing on the demise of The Citadel or becoming a tyrant is absolutely on the table, hell, it would've been with Max had he decided to live in The Citadel or The Crack In The Earth too.

Re: Charlize Theron wants to reprise Furiosa for sequel(s)
Its not because people didn't like them, its because they completely contradict what George has been saying the last two years and undermine the themes and ideas he successfully portrayed in the film. Fury Road is a reboot and not a sequel to Thunderdome, he's said this countless of times but the comics forced in a continuity regardless that many people believe over Miller's own word, that is clear proof that he did not sign off on the comic. He's also said Max has a great back story before Fury Road that he wants to tell someday which also disproves the continuity and maybe even the Glory story. I can assure you 100% he had nothing to do with the Furiosa comic and the comics were only made because they were contracted to, like the game. If Miller was 100% behind them then he wouldn't be constantly saying how its not a sequel and its a new Max in interviews before and after the film came out.
Re: Charlize Theron wants to reprise Furiosa for sequel(s)
Let's not forget that during all the speculation about Fury Road we had members stating that Miller was a hack who'd betrayed Byron Kennedy. Simply because it was looking like Fury Road wouldn't be exactly the same as the previous movies and wasn't going to fit in with the timeline. That's just how hot and cold fandom can get.Taipan wrote:It's almost insulting

Well, sorry to break it to you but I have to ruin the delusion you're living in. I've talked to Mark Sexton about people who speculate that Miller wasn't involved in creation of comic books and let's just say and if he read what you think he'd laugh his ass off. I don't know, maybe I should ask Brendan McCarthy and Nico for a double whammy but you seriously need to get your facts straight.
Why Miller isn't saying that FR is a sequel to Thunderdome? Because it is not anymore. The connection with the original trilogy in the comic books is a leftover from the original intention of FR being a sequel to MMBT. Plus - what other way to show Max's backstory to new folks? Of course the original trilogy would've been mentioned. And yes it came out wonky but what can you do.

Re: Charlize Theron wants to reprise Furiosa for sequel(s)
Love Furiosa but we don't need to see the character again in a max movie. Of course i'd take a Furiosa standalone movie but then i'd take ANYTHING set in the Mad Max universe.
Re: Charlize Theron wants to reprise Furiosa for sequel(s)
So you're saying Miller signed off on the comics showing FR is a sequel even though its not a sequel and has constantly said this well before the film came out and continues to constantly undermine the comics. I really can't understand how that could be considered signing off on something but those guys are more than welcome to come in and explain why the comics follow a draft from years ago that has since been changed many times but they felt it was ok to release regardless. That just screams laziness on everyones part and why the would be ok with releasing something that directly contradicts the film and rebooted universe.Taipan wrote:Wow...

Miller said Fury Road isn't a sequel, sure, but he also flat out said it isn't a reboot. I sincerely don't mean to sound rude, but hasn't this topic been covered countless times over the last year?

"If you put a gun to my head, I’d say after Thunderdome, but it’s very loose. I can’t even work out the chronology of the first, second and third, let alone the fourth thirty years later."

"It’s sort of a revisit. The [previous] three films exist in no real clear chronology, because they were always conceived as different films."

"It's connected in spirit. It's kind of revisiting a familiar place for me. The films are loosely connected. Each one was made with different impulses..."
At the end of the day what I take away from this is that the original pictures still stand as the foundation of Fury Road. Whether one looks at it as a legitimate sequel, 4th installment but on a floating timeline, soft reboot, standalone entry, etc, is up to the individual viewer because I don't think Miller is quite so concerned with the timeline as we are (and honestly I think that's totally fine). Heck, Miller even said that the "Fury Road Max is a grown up Feral Kid" theory is a legitimate interpretation of Fury Road, saying something along the lines of "If that's what the viewer sees, then that's what's there". Though thankfully he did clearly state that the Feral Kid angle was NOT his intention and NOT how he sees the film.

Re: Charlize Theron wants to reprise Furiosa for sequel(s)
That is absolutely true. Had we had Fury Road in 2003 it would had been a sequel to MMBT flat out. It's been written as such. Brendan McCarthy said that the 2015 movie is 95% the same as 2003 except with a different actor and that threw a wrench into the timeline that had to be rewritten specifically for Fury Road. Why does it include the original trilogy at all? Because it used to. They could've easily rewritten the whole trilogy for the purposes of introducing Fury Road but I think adding an environmental message, making the first Mad Max take place in 2010's with Tony Abbott's government as a backdrop to the fall of society and slapping Hardy's face into shots from original Mad Max trilogy did the trick just fine. But you have to treat it as a separate timeline from the Mel Gibson's one.MasterOgami wrote: what I take away from this is that the original pictures still stand as the foundation of Fury Road.
It is a very curious case timeline wise this Fury Road...The fact that it's essentially the same movie as in 2003 puts Miller between a rock and a hard place trying to explain what Fury Road is now. Not a reboot, a revisit, whatever you want it to be etc etc etc. All in all you can always use the 'stand alone story' cop out and never worry about it, but that's not the point now is it?

Re: Charlize Theron wants to reprise Furiosa for sequel(s)
hey Tiapan , I never meant it to be insulting to George Miller ( or you ) . It was more a disclaimer to try and stop the whole chronology/continuity debate from flaring up again....Fail on that one I guess . If George didn't want his name or brand attached to the comic , I'm sure he wields the legal team to have stopped it . So I can only assume he approved of the story line and unlike yourself , I'm not privy to secret information about the production so media reports is all I have to go on .
Infact ,I have been banging the "tie Fury Road in with the old films " drum for as long as I've been on here , coping a bit of flak over it I might add.....then out come the comics vindicating my stance. Not to gloat to all the re-boot crew but Please don't think I'm a comic hater....I actually loved them...cheese and all .
The only point I was making is that a sequel to Fury Road's Furiosa had been touched on by the comics , not that George Miller is lazy or a fraud ! Absolute apologies to all if it came off that way
