And, finally, Max Rockatansky - played this time by Tom Hardy - returns to the screen after years of absence. Mad Max: Fury Road is scheduled for a December release.
Hey Bio do you have any of the other links to the publications or was this the only one online?
Still seems kind of doubtful, would WB release 2 major pictures within weeks of each other since the second Hobbit movie drops in December too. Since it is an Australian publication and they're talking about Australian release dates could it be possible that FR could release in the US in November and Australia in December? Would probaby be unlikely given it's an Australian production but WB are also backing the movie too so I don't know....just throwing out some ideas. lol
The always reliable Fury Road Wikipedia page now says this:
"Miller announced that they would be returning to Namibia for pick-ups in early 2013 and the rest of the year would be taken up by CGI work and the conversion to 3D before a Christmas or New Year release."
If we take the upcoming Star Trek film as a template for MM4's release date this is what we get:
ST - Principal photography started: 12 Jan, 2012 MM4 - Principal photography started: 2 July, 2012
ST - First images released : 24 Feb, 2012 MM4 - First images released: 20 Dec 2012
ST - Filming ended: 12 May, 2012 MM4 - Filming ended: 17 Dec, 2012
ST - Release date: 17 May, 2013 MM4 - Release date: Unannounced, could be late 2013?
So, using Star Trek as an example we see that they finished filming one full year before the release date. Could the same be true for our hero Max?
A better example is Man of Steel. It finished filming in Jan 2012 and was scheduled to be released 11 months later this past Dec, but WB pushed the release to Summer 2013 because they preferred to release the Hobbit movie in that time slot instead. They also moved Gatsby out of Dec because of Hobbit.
Fury Road finished in Dec '12 and presumably would be ready for a Dec '13 release, but again, there's another Hobbit movie already set for that month. If WB was willing to push 2 big movies from Dec '12 to the following Summer to make way for the first Hobbit movie, I'm pretty sure they'll push FR to Summer '14 for the same reason. Besides, they've got slots to fill in Summer '14. I don't see anything else from WB other than Godzilla (May 16) and the 3rd Hobbit movie (July 18).
Yep, that's a better (and scarier!) example. I kind of wonder if Godzilla will make its release date with the problems their having.
MM4 has a budget less than half of those big tent-poles like Hobbit and Man of Steel, maybe this makes scheduling a release date more flexible? Could it be Nov, 2013 or Mar, 2014?
