Keays-Byrne in costume; leaked storyboard pictures

Another thought...I think that Byrne's costume is supposed to look alike he's wearing someone else's skin? See how there's no attempt to match color with his hands? And the chest looks all bloated and odd...

Cool stuff overall. Different enough to feel like it is being made today, and is relevant, but has enough roots in the old design styles.

I dunno, to me it looks like he's wearing an unfinished body-suit that isn't blended in yet with makeup. I'm getting a very "Fallout" feel from these new pics. It isn't necessarily a bad thing because I'm glad they aren't straight up remaking Road Warrior. However, going more extreme with the setting can easily slip this into cliched post apocalyptic video game setting #10425 and miss the point of Mad Max. Until I see Tom Hardy in costume and a trailer it's all very confusing.

I can see what you are saying, but here's the thing... RW defined post apocalyptic cinema. George Miller "owns" it. (He didn't invent it.) It's like when a band returns to a style they had started with. I think it's a completely justifiable idea for an artist to return to an original idea, and go off in a different direction with it.

And, if this pans out, I think making it about genetics, bloodlines, mutations and so on also makes sense. Look at what has happened to our culture since RW came out. The amount of tattoos, piercing, and body alterations is staggering to what it was at that time.

And, yes, that chest piece does match his face, so maybe it's his hands that need makeup.

Not too keen on the idea of having mutants myself. That was all part of the American and Italian Mad Max clones that were made after the success of Mad Max 2.

I noticed in the second storyboard pic, you can see a faint skull amongst that yellow explosion, the eye sockets, nose, teeth and those spikes on it's head. Obviously skulls are going to be part of the movie.

But again, if you follow the steps logically, mutants make sense.

Let's say there is an apocalypse and that nuclear devices are involved. There's going to be mutation. And, in a way, I always assumed that Humoungus had some sort of freaky mutated face. We saw the back of his head and that's kind of messed up.

Who knows, it might just be one calm that is mutated, while there are many "normal" people involved.

Also, is that the excavator truck being blown up in that drawing with the skull truck?

George Miller and Brian May set the standard on post apocalyptic films that no one else has been able to touch. And I for one will be very disappointed if Mad Max and Miller go anywhere towards "mutants," "pure breads," or any other ridiculousness. It has been done before and I would hate for the innovative creator of apocalyptic films goes in the direction of:

What is even worse is both those pictures took their inspiration from Mad Max and it would be a shame if thirty years later Mad Max is gleaning anything from those films.

Hugh's costume reminds me of the protective covering that is used on severe burn patients. Remember that the good doctor worked in the emergency room and has always taken inspiration from those days. This is obviously not meant to be his actual body but a covering, not to different from the mask of Humungous.
The hands holding the story boards could be that of a local who has gotten access to them. Maybe they had been discarded. In any case it gives some insight.

wasnt quite expecting there to be mutants but it just makes me think that theres going to be ridiculous explosions everytime a car crashes for some reason. hope not.

Why legendary???are they from the Mel gibson version of the film?

Years ago, the word was that there wasn't a real script for "Fury Road" and that Miller had just storyboarded the whole film in extreme detail, and that the film had very little dialog in it. I think legendary because we've been hearing about them for over a decade.

so that's why Max in the storyboard pic resembles Mel Gibson and not Tom Hardy? These are OLD storyboards?
