a lot of work behind the scenes going on. sadly that hasn't translated into anyone willing to help me so far but I have a feeling someone will aid me at some point.

Points of interest:

the Mack truck train: added in the naked windshield wiper mount as seen in the movie. I also started in on some of the interior. I know now how the seats are set up and will trying to make those next.
The Valiant Charger: I started in on the engine which will be a tried and true Aussie classic known as the Hemi 429. you can see my small start below. I plan to start with the engine and work my way out from there.
The Valiant Charger Ripsaw: even thought we've only seen it from a far and probably not finished. I've started preliminary work on the charger ripsaw by making the ripsaw itself so below you can see the back drive trane. the plan for now is to create the full ripsaw and then save the body I make for it and add the car in once I have seen the movie and what she looks like in action.

Going on from here:

Basically put I am going to give some of the older models a bit of a face lift. like actual detail into the no front fender statesmen including actual mesh for the cars side and back windows and boring out the engine top mouth that was to be a blower. others will get minor changes as the lone wolf/poppagelloe's car only really needs the metal banding that binds the body peices together and maybe a little boring of the top cone that went ontop of the back engine. anything else would be needless polywaste.

I also have a total rebuild of the mad max 2 trailer (man was I way off on parts of her thanks blu-ray) and I am also making a total reubild of the mad max interceptor so that I can create things like the silver interceptor with the skull blower and several other versions of the legendary car over the span of the videos. plus we have the videogame version from the mad max game coming out this year sometime. and I want to make that one not just rip it out of the game.

Progress shots:

(those fuel tanks are going to be remade to be exact to the movie, thank you fans for the great refshots.)

work continues I finally tore down the armored tanker trailer. I imported the wheels and wheel assembly from the junk trailer only cause I think it's best and give the right details to this trailer. then I set about to make the tankers main body.

part of why I am doing this is many parts of the original trailer were not my work. they were the work of rockstar games and that always bothered me. another reason is that so many parts I worked on were not accurate and the armore around the wheels needed to be updated. so pretty much this is not just be about updating the basics of a trailer that's not mine. it's about making a more detialed truck using as much detail as is necessary. I know how the trailer was constructed and all the detail I missed going off the old dvd I own. thanks to blu-ray and many of you out there with your behinde the scenes photos will aid me in making this the most accruate trailer made for a game so far.

still to do.
- new ladder with top rungs going off to each side at the top rather then being simply parallele
- Make new barbed wire brackets with a top that has a sorta of pyramid spike
- make barbed wire
- make the mesh that was over the top of the tanker
- make new defense cover
- make the brackers that were all along the sides and on the back of the tanker
- remake the car back end for back of the tanker
- finish the basic body of the tanker
- mold the armor plating
- add in the tankers side lights
- add the small bits of side armor that was welded to the top of the tanker and to the sides of the top walk way.

here's a peek at her right now:

I added in the wire frame cause it's hard to see the front of the tanker in the renders. but it's there. anyways back to work I go.

thank work continues. I made the main tank "cradel" that can be seen strateling the bottom of the main tank before you get to the frame that attatches to the wheels. I've learned a great deal studying the blu-ray version of Mad Max 2 and shall shift my work accordingly. I also know how the wheel armor enclosure was put together and also how the barbed wire holders were attatched to the tankers body. there is very little that I don't know about this trailer and am applying it bit by bit to what I am doing here. in the end this will make for a much more accurate tanker model. I might even model real barbed wire. but that might be a bit over kill so we'll see as I go along. there is still so much to make and so little time to make it so I'll keep chipping away at the mesh.

here's the work as she looks now.

Image
you really cannot see it but the tank cradel had two stips that gutted out of the bottom of the cradel. you could only really see them when the tanker rolled over. but I felt if it's there I should make it.

now there is still so much to do. there is the individual tank caps on the top to be made. I probably need to redo the tankers bottom spout (where the dirt came out in the end)the bottom frame needs be made, mesh for the top needs be made and then the ladder, the back car end,the rest of the armor plates and then the armored enclosures for the top. we have to make some form of barbed wire, craft ourselves the backets. then there is further work on the back area of the tanker in terms of further supports naturally found on the tanker. some handels and running lights are needed the top half of the tanker needs to be armored to a point and that should be all. sounds like a lot and it kind of is but it won't take too long to put together.

as to the rest of the models I am trying to take this project as it comes so I'll continue work on the chargers and the rest. still trying to get help from some people and there has been interest. will update when I have more to show you all.

I'm not going to make a big deal of this but I will say if no one cares about my work then what's the point of me finishing this. by now I feel like I am talking to myself on this part of the forum and it's to the point where I feel like 90% of you would never want or be happy with mad max models in games past or present. I will always make these models but as far as release it may not be worth it. if you like these models then say so. if you hate them then say so too but be specific as to why otherwise I won't know why it's not appealing. but I have a vaction coming up and I think I'll take the time to think about why I am even doing this. I mean the easiest answer is cause I love mad max more then anything in this world and I want to have a game that allows me the freedom to enjoy as many vehicles from the movies as I can make. but somehow even that joy is being sucked out as of late. so I'd encourage people to maybe discuss the work I am doing and show me that you at least give a shit. cause if not then I just don't see the point in posting here.

the above being as it may I am going to post the work done on the tanker trailer so far. she is getting a lot closer to being done.

now I am aware that the tanker trailer never seemed to have the typical feet to prop it up when not hitched to a tanker. from behind the scenes photos I've gathered that it was proped up with a makeshift set of feet made from square peices of wood. but the in game engine I am working with for now needs the feet so. like it or hate it this is what needs to be there. but in the future I can likely have no feet. such as when I have the tanker trailer in the compound as a static mesh in the back ground.

what was done tonight?

1.feet
2. made a very accurate link between the wheel assembly and the tank cradle
3. made the hitch and and it's attatchment to the bottom of the wheel frame assembly
4. made the ladder. she is accurate to the ladder scene when the back end of the car is ripped from the tanker. complete wit the angles at which the top of the ladder attaches to the tanker.
5. I made the tank caps. fairly accurate and should hold up in game.

well she's closing in being done. to do list
1. armor plates and their attachements
2. the car back end
3. handles. this trailer has many of them
4. new armored defense positions
5.barbed wire
6. wire mesh for the tanker caps.
7. running lights.
8 barbed wire holders

it looks like I still have a long way to go but not really. I'll probably make the mesh soon and then work my way round the tanker. when done she'll be one of the most accurate tanker trailers around. save for the back end of the car used for the armored platform in back. I'll do my best to recreate it but it's likely to have a back end of a statesmen instead of what it once had.

beyond that as stated above I need to consider what the hell I'm doing. sure I love making models but if you guys don't give a shit about if I finish or not then maybe it's time to stop posting in most cases. like I said though no rash choices here I'll sleep on it a few nights and let you all know after my vacation.

least intensive way to do barbed wire would be a narrow strip of polygons in a single row, then use texture and transparency to make it look like wire with barbs. (like how they do fences in games)

thanks for the tip Aussie. I might employ that through many games now do actually make the barbed wire and I have a ref to work off of. I'll spend some time on that and see how it goes cause I may be making some of this for games like fall out where one would get a good look at the mesh. but we'll see. the tanker is many steps closer to getting done as you'll see in my next post. we'll see how much trouble it is when I get that far.

for the time being I will continue to post here as far as my work goes. but. if people want to be ungreatful little shits about this because they are ubber fanatics then you will get nothing from me. because of motherfuckers like you doing this becomes less and less fun and I am not sorry if I offend anyone here for saying this cause I'm just so sick of some of the fandom and their holier then thou attitude. if you won't support me,or help me, our encourage me because of ...reasons. then you are unwelcome here and thus won't share in the bounty of my labor because you didn't help me when I needed it. or even cared. you absurdly high standards make a project like this unrewarding. so I'm just going to ignore you and move forward for me.

when I was five, the first movie I can ever remember seeing was "Road Warrior." I had no concept of the apocolypse. or of cars or guns and so on. but this movie captured me in a way that has lasted my entire life. my artist name on deviantart is a node to my favorite characters from the movie, and those cars have never left my mind or heart. I want nothing more then for this movie and the franchise to enchant others as it has me. so don't tell me I'm not a "real fan" if I won't support your absurd notions about what is or isn't allowed with this property. there is enough room and abiguity to the world of mad max for many many things. and that's where I am going to leave it. I am sorry to make this a bit of a rant. but I only really appreciate AussieMuscle and a few others who's names escape me for the time being but whom has been of great service to myself. they make this worth it and I won't punish them for others mistakes or idealisums. and this will be the only time I make mention of this cause I've given some of you more time then you are worth.

now onto the work I am doing. first is the hd facelift work. not much is done yet but here is what I did do.

Image

Image

most of the body is by artist who worked for us for a time called himself c.j. the wheels aren't mine either those are by a great artist known as ganjicia whom donated his meshes to the mod. I will b remaking the wheels. but in the mean time I realized from the blu-ray that the outter wheels of the lone wolf/poppgellos car had no rims at all. but the inner wheels did. so I have corrected it as you see now. the center of the back wheels sunk in as they should. fasinating cars these are. truly a marvel of art and engineering. I also worked a little on the tanks on the side as they were not quiet right. blu-ray helped me on that as well.

the tanker trailer:

Image

Image

Image

work done so far today was to put the lip that went around the sides of the top of the tanker. also flanned out the front of the tanker as it's flatter then what I was making it. this I could craft the front plates correctly for the front of the tanker. I thinned out the front handel as it's thinner then I through I saw. fixed the spacing on the side handels. and extended the running lights so that they stick out more. so they are fixed. spacing on the side handels isn't perfect but I'll try to fix it when it get back. made the inner lip that held the mesh that covers the tank caps.

there is still a few things left t do be we are very much in the home stretch as far as the tanker trailer.

now I have started work on 3 buggies as well. none of which are much more then pipes right thus no renders. but when I get back I hope to start making them more substantial so that you all can enjoy them for what they are or were. this should ad some much needed buggies to the mix and round out the cast of MM2 cars.

also thinking of doing a digital painted splash screen for gta so that mad max looks a lot more like it should. but we'll see. this year I'll be working harder then ever to get this mod into shape and so I think I can do it.

hello again. working very hard on models as I am back from my vacation. it was a much needed vacation.

here is the work I have done so far.

the Valiant Charger:

Image

Image

as stated I want to nail the hemi for the charger so that she will be accurate to the actual australian car itself. especially if I want to make stock versions of the charger for use in gta and or other games in the future. so I am doing it piece by piece.

The Tanker:

Image

Image

Image

Image

so I fixed the tanker cradel so that it is more accurate and it works fine. added in the back tanker cradel spires. I think it looks tops. lastly I worked last night on the barbed wire holders which,as I discovered from the blu-ray of mad max 2, doesn't hug the body of the tanker trailer as once thought but instread is bolt welded onto the main frame of the trailer and then spot welded onto the side handels of the tanker trailer. this has helped me emensly though as I discovered you have to add a bit more poly to make the curve of the holders more circular.

lots more work to be done on the tanker but I am also working on 3 different dune buggies in various states of creation. HD updating also continues. we have some offers to upconvert our cars to the new GTA games (such as GTA IV and the possible GTA V) I have granted permission for the works to be translated but a lot of work will have to go into updates of models for them to look good ingame. I also have added into the mix a higher poly ford falcon XB 1973 for future high poly gta's.

will continue working hard on these models and getting them ready for mass consumption.

sorry to say that my nights work on the tanker yeilded nothing. I am sorry to say that work was worse and worse the more time I spent on it. so I scrapped work.

but it wasn't a total waste. I worked a lot more on the the Valiant charger hemi 256. the side headers are now done and thus I am a lot closer to getting to the main body. here's the look.

Image

not sure what work will get done tonight my son is very sick and we can't get him to the hopsital till tomorrow (it's not life threatening or we'd be in the ER, just a bad flu and I'm playing nurse maid as my son as I am a single father.) anyways if I get some time I'll work hard on what I can. maybe doing some HD work on the some of the basic rim sets for some of the cars.

small bit of trivia straight from the new owners mouth. thanks to Adrain of the Mad Max Museum in silverton,AU I can give you all a small bit trivia. As some of you know Adrian recently aquired the original "Gate" bus. what most of you don't know is the owner of the bus who bought it from the mad max II production team stripped out the interrior. the reason for this was the owner before Adrian was trying to make it into a mobile home. so crazy.

anyways take care all.

not sure what work will get done tonight but I keep plugging away at it.

I have other mateirals from the mad max museum and before you ask no I can't share with you all. I have been given a special trust with the owners of the museum and I will not break it for anything. the point is that I can make better details on one of the vehicles. and yes it's better then the movie screens including the blu-ray.

more info when I have it.
