Ooooh, I like it too. I'm starting to lose the fear I've had for this long.......cutting the hole in my Biante's bonnet doesn't seem too scary at all now.

Manx - If you have a detached, bare metal bonnet, you could send it to me and I'll take a shot at making copies suitable for cutting on... that way you can keep the original intact. That's what I was planning to do with mine, and it would save me the hassle of stripping the paint. I've done a cast metal hood before for a 1/24th plastic model Shelby Charger... 1/18th should be easier.

Consider it done; I'll send the bonnet when I send the body shell. 8-)

Excellent! With any luck I'll be able to cast it with the hole already in place.

I recently purchased this 1:18 nosepiece from a guy in AU. It has some symmetry and dimensional issues, but I might correct them use it as a template for something, since the mating points are spot on. I like the nosework on your shell better though, manx.

DRAKNOIR: I see I'll be making a CONCORDE fascia over the Christmas break (Dec 22-Jan 14 Woohoo!) for you. It shouldn't take more than three or so days to complete. I'm assuming you want it "movie correct" on the side angle pieces? It'll fit the Tango/Apollo/Blaze XBGT (without cutting the diecast parts, ie guards/fenders), then send it to you for casting, with copies given out like the other excellent parts...Fair?

Sounds great, Bronze! That's exactly what I'm looking for. Can't wait to see it... you want copies in metal or plastic?

.MADMAX [Doug] sent me some detailed photos of the injector and hat [which I really appreciate] that I didn't have when I made my miniature, so I did some adjustment to the shape of the parts last night and improved the look.

I'm still debating remodeling and recasting the hat. As it is, with the adjustments I made, the assembly looks pretty good, but now that I have the actual dimensions I'm wondering if I should recast it narrower at the back end. It depends on what supplies I have left.

I used the new drawings to make a paper mockup of Scoop V2.0. I'm going to remaster, mold, and recast it. This one should be very close to correct. It's a lot easier when you have dimensioned drawings to go by. :)

Haven't recast the scoop yet, but here's a mockup of what I have so far:

Excellent work guys.

I used to do a lot of models when I was younger. I started out with jet fighters and then moved to muscle cars. I still have a 1/24 T/A Challenger I need to finish. I drilled the distributor and mounted 8 sparkplug wires in it and ran them to the heads where I drilled holes to fit them in the plug locations. I was going all out on this one. I even had bare wire to use for brake and fuel lines.

Later I went into 1:1 scale replicas of Star Wars props. That's another thread though.

I wish I had some time to play around with this stuff but I've got too many irons in the fire already. You guys are doing great and it's a pleasure to watch what happens as well as your enthusiasm. I used to be right there. If anyone needs a little machining work done on something let me know. I'm a Toolmaker and have access to some neat toys.

Thanks Steve. I should have started on this a year ago... figures once I tear into my XB GT Tango, AutoArt releases the 1:18 BoB model. :x Still, it's a fun project. Between Bronze, Manx and myself I think we'll wind up with some decent conversion parts, which I plan on using in my next two projects... American BoBs based on a '71 Mustang Mach 1 and a '71 Torino Cobra. I already bought the Mach 1, and I'm bidding on a Torino. If only I could splice the Torino rear end onto the Mustang front end...

Toolmakers are good friends to have. I had a toolmaker buddy/coworker who used to do side jobs for beer. Got some quality gunsmithing and custom exercise equipment fabbed by him. Sadly, he passed away young. I'll never part with any of his work.
