I agree with much of what you've said. I play video games and this just looks like many I've played - borderlands anyone? I'm worried the comic book nature of it will make it too over the top. I'm worried max looks a bit rubbish as a hero (though hardy looks perfect for the role and I'm a big fan of his). I'm worried about the story: how much can you do with a 100 minute chase? I'm worried about the world: it seems too busy with water and petrol issues plus weather changes and mutations and is there fallout?
And yet, I've watched the trailer a ton myself. It looks like road warrior on LSD and snorted gasoline. I really want to see it, and that's all any good trailer can do. Like you, I'm no more confident or skeptical; I'm just pretty much in a permanent state of shock and fascination with that trailer.
What does everyone think of hardy's voice & accent? I've seen a few comments on youtube saying he sounds too much like bane. I just watched some bane videos and compared the voices and they don't sound the same at all.

I like it. There seems to be a bigger hint of an Australian accent than I was expecting. The impressions from the test screening made it sound like his accent was unclear (part aussie, part english, part american etc) so I wonder if they cleared it up with a bit of ADR before the bulk of it gets done?
The Bane thing...no it sounds nothing like Bane and then I read someone saying he's trying a Batman voice. Poor bloke can't catch a break!

He sounds like Bane? Wow, I knew the comments on YT are ignorant and straight up moronic to put it mildly but that really takes the cake.
Hardy sounds absolutely nothing like Bane in this.

This is what I'm like on under 3 minutes of new max footage, god knows what will happen next year. I suspect I will be minus a wife.
The rifle looks like its been modified to be a spear gun? You can see the rod of the spear sticking out of it.
A popular radio station here in Melbourne posted the video on their facebook page and the response has been mostly negative with comments like "it looks too Americanised!"......I don't think they realise it was made by the same guy that made all the previous films.
