I don't want to know the story, but wondering from a film making point of view whether everyone involved in the production is aware of the whole story.

Yes were given a run through on the script and watched a storyboard run through with a somewhat amusing dialogue by the Production Designer, so a bit loose on exact details or actual character lines, but really we only needed to know what the cars had to do and what stunts they would need to perform so we could modify them accordingly. I can't comment on weather I think die hard fans will or won't like it. I think there is a wide variety among die hard fans as to what they took from the original films, so I can only hope it appeals to the majority. Regardless of the script I think if nothing else visually it should be pretty cool.
