Dale, thank you SO MUCH for sharing your pictures. They're really a treat, and bring back the feelings of "otherness" I felt the first time I watched Mad Max (in 1980). I knew there was something different about the movie--the cars, the locations, the overall vibe--and it was only after I learned it was filmed in Australia that I realized why it was so different. I have one question for you: How does it feel to have had a hand in putting Australia on the world stage, film-wise?

Alan, you're a poet and didn't know it. Lemme see what I can do with it.

who live in Clunes with pics tucked away"

Lucky to have been involved, but I reckon Aussie land had it's finger in the pie even before Max.

Very funny Curtis. I don't think anyone else would have picked up on Alan's two lines the way you did.
(Having been fortunate enough to meet Alan recently, I can honestly say he is a top bloke, and I don't think he's a poet).
;)

Now I can't resist a follow on to the poem theme ...

"We invaded their township, those two days in Clunes;
The townsfolk came over, to check out the hoons.

There were many observing, including some chicks,
To rub shoulders, get autographs and take a few pics."

The last of my Mad Max snaps from the shoot in 1977 ...

(As I said in a previous post, these and the last 7 were actually compliments of a girl in Clunes who kindly posted them to me way back then.
She and her friends were around 16 or 17 years old at the time. Many thanks to her, whoever and wherever she is):

By the way ...
Back on the road again after about 24 years (highly inspired by recent contact with some Mad Max cast, crew, fans and replica owners. All good!):

See ya on the road scags!
:D

At the time they were the Vigilanties MCC jumpers. There was the occasional footy match against mainly the Sidecar Club as I recall.
(They were sort of borrowed. Or should I say it was a long term hire "arrangement"? Something along those lines anyway).

A few people have mentioned "this and that" team having the same jumpers, but the one I had on at Clunes (which I still have) originated in a northern suburb of Melbourne.

Nico and Norton rider (Sandy?)

Dale, the girl with Nic is the one who appears as part of the "bigger" bikie gang?
A female with black leathers can be seen standing with the other members when the toecutter rides off chasing the shagpile mobile... :D

Glad you kept the photos... the whole town sence seems like a barrel of fun!

The guy in the brown jacket is (according to IMDb) Hunter Gibb, who plays Lair (or The Lair), the driver of the red Chevy. Evidently his TV/movie career was short. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0316458/ (I didn't really appreciate her until I saw MM again on the big screen, but the Lair's girlfriend, Kim Sullivan, was a cutie pie!)

The guy in the red jacket is...well, IMDb is no help with that. Could be any one of the actors listed without character names: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079501/fullcredits#cast
