Truthfully I'm not that excited about Tom Hardy playing Max (if he is). He's done good films like ''Rock'N'Rolla'' and ''Star Trek: Nemesis''. The young action stars aren't mature I guess you could say. What I want is a Michael Bein,Rutger Hauer,Mel Gibson type actor not a Christian Bale, Gerard Butler type actor. But who knows he may pull it off.

Nothing has changed with this MTV interview. We still don't have direct word from Hardy or anyone at Kennedy Miller saying that he's playing Max. The fact that KMM has refused to comment on the issue after undoubtedly being swamped with calls by various media outlets leaves me to suspect that they're hiding something of significance.

Note that in the MTV interview, no questions related to Hardy's casting in the movie were posed by the interviewer. The subject was likely off limits. The only time it's brought up, it's done be Hardy, and he doesn't really talk about it.

Or he's Max's son, or I'm out of this mess, having a BRILLIANT trilogy already on my back!

The film, a drama set in the world of MMA, stars [Joel} Edgerton and future "Mad Max : Fury Road" star Tom Hardy (who Edgerton confirms, in the interview, is playing Mad Max - something that's never been confirmed) as brothers .

"It's me and Mad Max fighting each other in a cage", Edgerton laughs. "He's a fucking time bomb. He's one of these actors whose emotions are just so evident right under the surface of the skin".

They're brothers in another movie (Warrior), not Fury Road.

Regarding Fury Road, Hardy had this to say in the July 2010 edition of Vanity Fair.
“So far I have dropped 28 pounds and I've got another 10 to go,” Hardy says. “We've got two months out in the desert, where we'll be working and grafting and chiseling away at the body. It's going to be a very physically intense part.”
A physically intense part. Almost a year on set. Does Mel even want any part of that? Can't really blame him if it was his decision not to take it on. Not at this point in his career.

Hardy in June 18 interview with Jonathan Ross.
Ross: For Mad Max, you're gonna be out there shooting this Summer......is Mel Gibson gonna be in the film in some way, shape or form? Is he involved in any way?

Hardy: I don't know. I don't know much about that. [long pause] Sorry. But I am playing Max!

Ross: That you do know.

Hardy: That I know, yeah.
