We have a Summit Racing shop here locally. I will be there tomorrow.

What are you guys talking about when you say "box"? Are you talking about the steering box? :?

I figure I just need to get all the components off the engine, drop the trans and pull the sucker out, eh?

They mean pull the engine and box (transmission) as one unit, instead of doing it seperately. I've done it that way myself a few times.. As long as your hoist will go that high, it saves having to split them while in the car. Just make sure you plug the output of the trans or you will have fluid everywhere! (I use a spare yoke and just bungy-cord it to the trans so it can not slide out if tilting an engine/trans at a big angle)

I've had the LS1 and 6 speed in and out of the Torana a few times lately while doing the install...but Holdens (like Mopars) are easy, you can do them out the bottom real quickly. 8-)

sometimes you can use a plastic soda bottle cut to size to plug the tail shaft of the trans. drain it first. take pics for wiring.

Bart
Have you seen the sandwitch bag trick
All parts from interior small screws etc. put them in zip lock bags with a note or mark the bag with a sharpie

Funny, did you read my tutorial here?

http://www.nofuture.com/myvx/how-tos/tb/tbelt.htm

Problem with my Falcon though, is that it has been pulled apart before. Whoever reassembled it did a half ass job.

I would just replace all the body hardware anyway on your car...with the condition it is in, and being a bitsa-car...all new stuff would be the best way to go IMO anyways.

Agreed. That's the plan. When the time comes to put the windows and all the mechanicals back together, I will be celebrating anyways, so it will be a good thing!
